Description
NOTE:-

The brewery originally traded as 'Dorset Piddle' then dropped the 'Dorset' in 2014.

Beers produced since 2017 do not carry 'Dorset' in the name, with one exception, the Rogue but this follows Piddle instead of preceding it.

As such beers in the Brewver database carry the name 'Dorset Piddle - ' on the beers that went out of production after the 2014 rebranding.

This wasn't the cleanest or quickest transition and there were still beers being produced in 2015/16 with Dorset on the label.

With a name like Piddle, you’d think we don’t take anything seriously. Dictionary definitions of piddle vary. Some list it only as a verb; a synonym for wasting time, as in ‘piddling about’. British dictionaries also list it as a noun, as in “I need a piddle”. It’s lucky that we don’t take anything too seriously.

But, we do – just one thing – and that’s the beer that we make and love. Our passion is blending hops, barley and malts in to create ales that bring serious pleasure, from delicate thirst-quenchers to thick, velvety stouts. A mix made in heaven – or in as in our case Piddlehinton in deepest Dorset.

Cask at Volunteer Tavern, Bristol. Sampled June 2016. Pours clear chestnut amber with a pale tan cap. Malty, caramel, hedgerow fruits, hoppy, somewhat astringent. Light sweet & moderate bitter. Towards dry in taste. Medium body with soft carbonation.

Bottle, a gift from a mate. Aroma had sweet fruity and malts. A touch of butterscotch. Clear dark gold. Thick fluffy foamy white head. Initial sugary fruit sweetness followed by a citrus sour edged grainy bitterness streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick if on the thin side. Soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Pleasant without exerting the senses.

Gift from mate's trip to Dorsetshire. Aroma combines sour yet sweet fruit with carmal and doughy malts. Some spice. Clear copper gold. Thin foamy translucent white head. Medium bitter. Resin and quinine. Tart citrus. Underlying doughy malts. Light bodied. Thin but lifted by soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Wad expecting this to be a happier Gold as per the now retired beer with a similar name. But to be fair this is a bitter low ABV IPA.

Bottle from a mate. The aroma is quite pungent - citrus, sherbert, malts and yeast. Clear gold. Thick fluffy foamy white head. Medium bitter. Earthy. Woody. Followed by citrus and sherbert. Light bodied. Soft fizzy carbonation - it's certainly lively. Long dry slightly astringent finish. More interesting than I expected. Partly because of its liveliness.

This beer is now simply called Piddle Slasher. I sampled its alias \"I love Tanks (and Beer) Limited Edition\" from the Tank Museum, but the two commercial descriptions are identical, so there is no doubt that this really is the Piddle Slasher. ABV is 5.1%. Purchased from the Tank Museum webshop. Gusher bottle, half the content went down the kitchen sink before I could reach the glass. Insanely overcarbonated, the glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer appears below only very slowly. Moderate aroma of malts, grassy, herbal and spicy hops, hints of stewed yellow plums. Light bodied. The flavour has earthy and peppery hops on a weak background of malts, moderate but distinct bitterness.

500 ml bottle, as Piddle Black Prince Bitter, from the Tank Museum webshop. ABV is 4.1%. I suspect that this might be an alias of Piddle Piddle (which I have not had), but as the commercial description is all about the tank and not the beer, I can not be certain. Clear deep golden colour, huge white head that takes a long time to settle, overcarbonated. Aroma of malts, toffee and some caramel. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, but is not too sweet. Moderate earthy English hops in the finish. A run-of-the-mill best bitter, not bad, but not very exciting either.
