Hazed blonde ale with some floating material floating inside. Aroma is oxidized malt and lemon, as this is a bit old (crap BB 17-08-04!). Lots of honey noted too. In mouth, sweet honey malt and lemon notes, no bananas, a bit thinner, but holding good for its age. Bought at LCBO, in 2004 it seems.

Bottled in March 2005, drunk in March 2006. Bottle has been kept in beer cooler/refrigerator since importation.
The deep bronze-copper liquid is clear from having settled and rested cold for a year. Thick layer of dark brown sediment sits on the bottom, while an off-white head is formed, small and quickly dissipating to a ring, though there is fair, sticky lacing. The nose is redolent of light toasted grains, graham crackers, soft yeast and old, soily, plant-like hops. Just a near brush of hallertauers at this point. Some old fruit skins, mild vanilla, peaches and crusty bread. The flavor is lightly metallic (b-vitamins), doughy and soft, with a gentle effervescence. Lightly sticky, yet not overly sweet, malt notes combine with a touch of sourish-like munich grains and a rather dull yeastiness on the end. Hops have heavily faded, expectedly, over the year it has sat. The metal and soil notes really detract from the overall interplay of malt, yeast and hop, but I can certainly say that the beer should not be aged. I’m only entering a review so as to keep intact my "notes" from this bottle and be able to compare when I try a fresh sample. Actually, I did not even notice that the beer was a year old when purchasing it and am surprised Downtown Liquors would keep it on the shelf/cooler that long. The carbonation is getting tired, too much dough and bland yeast, with the metal and only soily plant-like hop notes at this point. But a very soft, almost oily texture, as the commercial description says. No alcohol noted.

Hazy light golden body with a thin frothy white head. Aroma of grain, some light wheat, corn, and a touch of honey. Mild corn flavor somewhat sweet, wheat shining through in the end.

Sampled from bottle. I can see this one can cause problems. Lots of phenols when opened, and a bit of a wet dog smell. Not very sweet, and a little bit of skunk. When you call yourself a Christmas beer, you need some special character to make your product stand out: spices, special malts, whetever. Best I can say about this is that it was too well balanced; outside of the off flavors, there was nothing to really stand out.

Draught and bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Cloudy yellow, small head. Strong estery aroma with blueberries, jelly and bubblegum. Dryish with soft mouthfeel - the draught version being slightly more lively and easy on the tongue. Incredibly estery with notes of toffee as well. Blueberry sorbet dominate the finish.

Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear pale yellow, firm, rich head. Grassy, bready aroma. Dry with very soft mouthfeel. Generously hoppy with a wealth of buttery, bready malt. Lingering bitter finish.

Bottle. Sweet banana, apple, clove and wheat malt aroma. Dark brown color with orange tint and ample head. Tart-sour grape and apple flavor with wheat malt coming through at the end. A very different but still very good beer. Flavor defies both stereotypical Hefe Weizen and Bock characteristics.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, Feb 17) Golden yellow colour, very hazy, with a nice frothy head. Nose has a distinct spicy smell of clove, and bananas. Taste is spicy, wheaty with a large spoon of banana ice cream. Clean and fresh.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, Feb 17) Golden yellow colour with big frothy head. Nose is malty, bready with hints of grass and butter. Taste is malty, bready with a long, very dry and bitter finish. A school book example of a classic german pils.

An unclear yellow beer with a thin lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of banana and wheat. The flavor is sweet and again with very strong notes of banana, combined with some notes of wheat. A very refreshing beer, but an average Weizen.
