Description
André Paeleman, a male nurse living in Wetteren (Belgium) started a long time ago with his plans to produce his own beer. To accomplish that goal, he followed 3 years of brewery classes in Ghent.
Later, in 1996, he officially started his own Microbrewery in his home city Wetteren. He didn't have a lot of resources to start with so he had to turn an old industrial bakery into a brewery to get started.
In the beginning, he even used milk tanks made out of stainless steel along with materials he got from 2 other breweries in the neighbourhood.
Once a week, he brewed 750 liters of his first beer he called Uitzet 1730.
The brewery was growing and André was producing more and more Uitzet 1730. Things were looking good and he decided to produce a second beer called Lam Gods.
Later on, he expended his range of beers to seasonal beers and he even produced a cherry beer.
André drealised that he couldn't take care of all those different beers by himself. He decided to let Brewery Van Steenberge brew Uitzet 1730 and Lam Gods while he would be focussing on the seasonal and cherry beers.

750 cork and wire. Poured into a tulip glass. I had this last night, no need for note taking this was extremely unique. Arome was a tame gueuze, funky barnyard. Extremely surprised, the flavor was a lot more traditional with a strong sweet belgian taste and just hints of those gueuze qualities in the background. The sweetness might be a turn of to some but I love it as well as the wild characteristics. My only complaint is the color was a bit to pale. Low bitterness, above average carbonation, medium full body.

Hazy pale blond color; nice head; a lot of perlage. Spicy aroma, with malt and earth. Very dry front, then some malt and sweetness appear, to be dry again at the end; the flavor has spices as well (coriander) with a touch of lemon peel. The bitterness is ordinary. Overall, an interesting brew.

Bottled [BB 09/2007]. Hazy pale orange, huge cloudy off-white head, very good lacing. A spicey, hoppy, fruity, slightly alcoholic aroma. Fresh-lemony, slightly alcoholic flavor. Bitterness is short, palate could be stronger but otherwise world class "session" triple.

Bottle. 6.2%. Cloudy brown colour. Very stable light brown head. Sweet, plummy aroma. The flavour is slightly sweet, not too much. Not peppery or dry, but quite well-balanced. Thin to medium mouthfeel.

At Delirium Cafe, Brussels, Belgium - Thanks to Olivier (Olivier_MTL) and his friend for sharing.
Virually no head on this beer. Clear, reddish brown body. Looks just like a fine red wine. Nose of leather, grapes, cherries, red and white wine, port, cask wood, ... really WOOOW! Just like one of my favorites of Cantillon: St. Lamvinus. Moderately acidic, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately acidic finish, averagily long. The flavour is a little bit weak. It is still quite sour, but a little bit softenned out. It is just like a (sweet) lambic with grapes added, but with not that many carbonation yet.

No date is notched on the Best Before label, but the latest it goes is 2000, so I’ve got to imagine this to be at most a 2000, with the possibility (and probability) that it is actually more like a 97-99. Anyways, 750mL bottle consumed by myself on 8/17/2005.
Smells of band-aids, bretty and dry, with a light medicinal funkiness. Cherry-raspberry jam flavor on the end. Big ruddy-raspberry flecked beige colored head that quickly fizzles down, but remains about one-finger high. Intensely tiny bubbles and a very hazy/opaque deep strawberry color. Aroma out of the glass is powerful and very interesting. Tart, funky, wooly-dusty aroma. Much similarity to a kriek lambic. Flavor is rubber, plastic, tart, tart yeast and a dry sourness on the end. Lemon-rind and medicine and black pepper. Good lord this is tart! Extremely dusty and medicinal. Very dry and seems quite attenuated, though I know this stuff is very old, so that explains that. Really well-made, though. Not watery, or overly yeasty. Probably the most incredible part of this was what happened upon adding the yeast shot to my glass. Bigger, sweeter flavors now with a wonderful, chewy yeast and cherry-pie flavor. It does quite the opposite of dulling the flavor. REALLY good at the bottom of the bottle. Alcohol becomes somewhat noticeable. Soft and fuzzy cherries, alcohol undertones, some bits of honey or maybe just cherry sweetness. With the yeast shot, this beer is second to none! Sweet, mellow, soft and juicy; just perfect really. I’d be crazy if I didn’t think this as good as most krieks (lambic or no lambic). Not quite on the level of Cantillon, perhaps not the mouthfeel and very well developed bacteria and sourness that I enjoy, but quite incredible in its own right. Thanks for the tip, David!

(Bottle 33 cl) Very unclear, pale almost greyish colour. Huge, dense and very pretty head. Has some of the same perfumy notes as found in most witbiers - must be the coriander - with some vague, underlying tartness. According to my label this also contains oats - unmalted? 080998
