Description
André Paeleman, a male nurse living in Wetteren (Belgium) started a long time ago with his plans to produce his own beer. To accomplish that goal, he followed 3 years of brewery classes in Ghent.
Later, in 1996, he officially started his own Microbrewery in his home city Wetteren. He didn't have a lot of resources to start with so he had to turn an old industrial bakery into a brewery to get started.
In the beginning, he even used milk tanks made out of stainless steel along with materials he got from 2 other breweries in the neighbourhood.
Once a week, he brewed 750 liters of his first beer he called Uitzet 1730.
The brewery was growing and André was producing more and more Uitzet 1730. Things were looking good and he decided to produce a second beer called Lam Gods.
Later on, he expended his range of beers to seasonal beers and he even produced a cherry beer.
André drealised that he couldn't take care of all those different beers by himself. He decided to let Brewery Van Steenberge brew Uitzet 1730 and Lam Gods while he would be focussing on the seasonal and cherry beers.

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow golden color, medium sized white head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is somehow a mix or some fruityness, oak and lightly madeira wine or sherry. Like I said: somehow in a good way, quite nice. The flavor has it as well: malts, some alcohol, quite fruity, liqueur, oak, sweetish dark fruits, lightly raisins and again I’m reminded of rhum, madeira or sherry BA beers. Soft mouthfeel, velvety smooth texture, suitable carbonation. Total surprise this one. Would have never guessed this was a tripel and I have no idea how they did this, but it’s surprisingly good and totally not what I had expected.

330 ml. bottle sampled @ Bier Central. Deep red amber, small tanned head. Nose is horrible, hugely metallic, spoiled, rotting wet leaves, gutter,… Taste is similar rotting wet autumn leaves, overripe fruit, herbal, lighter metallic notes, something soapy (reminiscent of that grainy soap they heavy at metal workshops),… Body is thin, chemical, strongly metallic,… Possibly badly stored given the establishment. Unpleasant for me.

Pours clear blonde, ok white head fades to a layer. Smell is malty, mildly sweet, some yeast. Not much bitterness. Taste is bitter though, and very yeasty ( overripe fruits ) . High carbo, rather sticky mouthfeel. Not very refreshing due to the sticky sweetness.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems & Zoon. Smells of white sugar, honey, oxidation. Crazily high carbonation, thick yeast, white sugar, candi sugar. Terribly dull BE beer. There are just way too many beers like this in Belgium.
