The appearance had a brown colored body with a slim white foamy head that simmers down to a quick filmy lacy looking spotted head.
The smell was slightly grainy with a little nuttines and chocolate.
The taste had a mainly sweet nutty maltiness. The aftertaste is sweet nutty and malty. The finish is slightly dry yet sweet and lingering.
The palate was about a light to medium in body, and has a decent sessionability.
Overall, good English Brown Ale that I would have again.

Draft, Rooster’s Landing. Pale golden orange with a thin ring of white head. Not much to it; light hops, caramel and bready malts. Modest in flavor intensity and a clean dry finish. A micro for the macro drinkers.

Tap at OBF. Pours translucent amber with a transient white head. Citrus aroma. Med body. flavor is citrus followed by roast malt. Finishes towards dry and bitter. Barley and fruit work nicely together.

Crisp, slightly copper tinted golden coloured body with a thin, half a centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of very pale malt, a hint of grassy and herbal notes and a tiny bit of sweetness and alcohol. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic and earthy malt notes with a little sweetness and a hint of fruits with some grassy flavours finishing it off. Aftertaste shows a mostly malt flavour with hints of alcohol, sugar, grass and a little rice. Overall, not such a great beer, but somewhat refreshing. I didn’t get any of the yeast notes nor of the hoppiness. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$0.99 sampled at home in Washington on 18-June-2013.

New Beer Distributors, NY 12oz ($2.50): Pours a mahogany colour with a beige head. Aroma is fruitiness and booze, with a bunch of sugary malt. Taste is sweet, with a slight hoppy bite at the end. Taste covers up the alcohol, but the high booze is obvious nevertheless. First sip was sort of rough, but then all smooth later. Not too much complexity.

Slightly hazy deep honey coloured body with a thick, luscious three centimetre tall off-white head - very creamy and nice. Aroma of pale malt, light lemons and cleanser, pledge, and a hint of herbal and floral hops. Light-bodied; Strong relatively pungent malt note with less than pleasant flavours, some funky grass and herbal notes and not much of anything else to speak of - no complexity, no sweetness, no horrible bitterness - just a slighty decent flavour with not much going on. Aftertaste shows more malt and funk than anything else - okay. Overall, an acceptable beer that doesn’t make me want to drink this ever again, but if you are from out of state and haven’t seen this before (just like me), definitely try it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington [State] on 10-February-2013 for US$1.66 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 14-March-2013.

Slightly hazy deep copper and amber coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light earthy and citrusey hops, some good malt, a hint of caramel and a bit of floral notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and earthy malt notes at first with a good english hoppy flavour and more of a pronounced hop feel and a chalkier/meatier malt flavour profile. Aftertaste shows nuts, caramel, a hint of bitterness and some more traditional West Coast IPA flavours, but not much - just a tiny hop bitterness. Overall, a decent and different IPA than I was expecting, but one worth trying if you are interested in an English style IPA or one that breaks the mold of a West Coast IPA. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Pear Delicatessen in Seattle, Washington on 08-February-2013 for US$2.00 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 28-February-2013.

Super dark brown coloured body with a thin oily light brown head. Aroma of tons of roasted malt, milk, coffee and a lot of anise and spice notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt flavours with prunes, raisins, nuts and a lot of lactic sugars noticeable. Aftertaste a touch lighter with a slightly thinner body, some caramel sweetness and a lot of earthier, nutty flavours. Overall, a nice robust beer with a complex flavour - a bit needed on the body, but a nice beer to sample for sure! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Pear Delicatessen in Seattle, Washington on 08-February-2013 for US$2.00 sampled a day later in my hotel room in Seattle on 09-February-2013.

A deep dark imperial stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice sweet chocolate with resinous hops, licorice, molasses, a bit of funk, very nice and complex. In mouth, very sweet chocolate with vinous notes, ashes, floral hops, treacle, veering into old ale territory.

Bottle at the Pre-Christmas CBC - Clerkenwell Tasting, London. Thanks to Colin for this beer. Pours rich brown with a fine beige cream head. Sugary dark malt nose, some alcohol, burnt toast and dark cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with light roast, dusty cocoa, smooth dark malts. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Light dry finish with mellow roasted malts, light earthy bitterness, some marshmallow, burnt wood, baking cocoa. Very smooth and pleasant impy stout, though not particularly complex.
