Description

23/IV/16 - on tap @ Zythos Bierfestival 2016 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2016-404) Thanks to the BE RB crew for sharing beers today!
Clear purple brown beer, small irregular beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, sugary, caramel, dried fruits, soft roast, chocolate notes. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, sugary touch, caramel, bit metallic, roasted, quite some coffee, bitter hops. Aftertaste: mocha, bit sour, alcohol pretty noticeable, hoppy bitterness, coffee. Not bad at all!

Bottle. Pours black, slightly darker, OK sized head. Smell is very roasty. taste is rather sharp, bit bitter, very roasty. Malty ( burnt), slightly sweet undertone. Thick aftertaste (roasty) . Ok mouthfeel ( very good for Belgian standards, but for INT standards this is ’ok’. Nice, low carbo. Simple, but just nice.

Pours unclear, dark amberbrown. Small white head. Smell is weak, mild sweet touch. Taste is mildly bitter, some earethy sweetness. Rather thin mouthfeel. Ok carbo. Nicely different than others in the style, it has more of a earhthy, almost roasty touch. Just not very intense, or specifically nice in a way.

Pours dark, unclear amber, with a big white head. Smell is malty, but not very sweet. Taste is sharp, sweet ( candy-like malty, Sugar, caramel notes) Overcarbonated. Grainy. Not very balanced, as it has far to much caramel notes ( and gas)

Pours clear blonde, HUGE white head. Smell is rather intense fruity hopped (syle of cascade ) taste is rather intensely bitter, with a nice fruity hopprofile, still in touch with the bitterness. Contains some Belgian-like yeast, but less yeast-forward than other ’Belgian IPA’s ’ I feel this one is very balanced. I like it’s taste and scent. The mf is average, carbo a tad to high. Sorry to see the foam fills 80 % of the glass, even if i try to pour without foam... Bummer on anotherwise very good beer
