Description

Thanks to tderoeck. Wheat beer in this series, apparently intended as a Weissbier - perhaps a sign of the German influence in the eastern province of Limburg, not uncommon among breweries there. Hazy golden blonde under a thick and stable, cream white, moussy head. Aroma does show some banana reminiscent of helles Hefeweizen, some green apple, honey, gingerbread, sour yoghurt, cloves. Hint of soft wheaty sourishness in the mouth paired with estery fruitiness, hint of apple, some spicy yeastiness, finish a bit soapy, yeasty and sweetish. I welcome any attempt at making a Hefeweizen in Belgium instead of the ominous witbier, but this needs a lot more work to compete with the ’real’ Bavarians.

Courtesy of tderoeck. The blonde session ale in this series, with a sticky, snow white, stable head and pale golden blonde, clear robe. Aroma shows considerable acetaldehyde (green apple, freshly cut grass), raw potato, honey, white grape, cauliflower. Soft fruity taste, apple peel, sourish touch, malt sweet, bit yeasty, powder sugar sweetishness, lean and thinnish body, sourishness continuing in the finish which otherwise has a more malty than hoppy character. Technically more or less correct, but could do with more hops. Forgettable.

Courtesy of tderoeck, with whom Benzai, 77ships and me sampled the whole range from this new beer company in its current form. Off-white, medium thick, stable head, colour pure amber, clear. Aroma of biscuit, red berries, walnuts, toasted bread, hint of tobacco and a sulphuric whiff of melting plastic, fortunately very subtle. Dried fruits, toasted malts, caramelly and nutty, dryish with light yeastiness, vague smoky touch, light bitterish finish with lingering toasted malts. Acceptable Belgian amber but needs more work.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear amber color, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is lightly malts, lightly a hint of red fruit. Taste lightly malts, some fruityness, but finishes with a little fruitpeel bitter. Ok beer.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear yellow - orange - golden color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, lightly hops, old hops, remembers me of the white "stuff" under the peel of an orange. It also has that kind of bitterness. Ok body and carbonation.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear pale golden color, medium to full sized white head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, koriander and it also remembers me of oregano. Taste malts, koriander or some other herb again, a hint of fruit, some sweetness, a hint of yeast. Tastes a little better than the aroma. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ne Gouwe Loemelaer Tripel Dry Hop on 24 Jan 2015 at 09:59 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5. Original review text: Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear pale golden color, huge white head that lasts for a long time. Don’t get a lot of aroma but that may be caused by the huge head. Taste lightly malts, indeed some hops but only slightly, and unfortunately also some yeast and a hint of alcohol. Decent body, a bit fizzy carbonation.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear medium brown color, medium sized white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, a hint of caramel, slightly a metallic hint. Taste malts, caramel is more present than in the aroma, slightly a hint of iron in the finish, soft malt bitter finish. Decent body and carbonation. 6-2-6

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Huge white head on top of a clear pale golden colored beer. Smell and taste wheat, slightly sweet, some yellow fruits, a hint of apple, applepeel. Decent body and carbonation. Not really a weizen but drinkable.
