Description
Brasserie de Silly NV is still family-owned and is now in the hands of the sixth generation of the same family. The company is managed by cousins, Lionel and Bertrand Van der Haegen. Bertrand is responsible for production and Lionel looks after sales. Their parents, brothers Jean-Paul and Didier Van der Haegen are still active Board members. Brasserie de Silly has seen steady growth thanks to export sales and its quality image. Production in 2008 was 1,000,000 litres, but in 2018, 2,500,000 litres are expected to flow out of the tanks. Sales are on the up and up. Belgian beers produced in a traditional way are increasingly popular around the globe.

18/XI/25 - sample @ HoReCa Expo (Gent), BB: n/a (2025-1289) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!
Clear yellow blond beer, creamy dense white head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of diacetyl up front, ooh that’s really bad! Yoghurt, more butter, bah. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: lots of diacetyl first, sweet touch, spicy, some coriander. Aftertaste: very spicy, lots of coriander, soapy, more diacetyl. Nope, either this was served way too young, or they got a bigger problem at the brewery.

18/XI/25 - 75cl bottle @ HoReCa Expo (Gent), BB: n/a (2025-1288) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!
Slightly cloudy reddish brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: a bit vinous, malty, some caramel, grains, hay, banana peel, a bit oxidized. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lovely, gentle roast up front, quite some alcohol, caramel, a bit yeasty, soft acidity, fruity, red fruits, strawberries. Aftertaste: a little bitter, metallic touch, caramel, vinous notes, some tannins. Would’ve guessed this as a red wine B.A. rather than a white wine, but ok.

330ml bottle from Lagom, Ho Chi Minh City. Poured a murky medium brown colour with a lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is big toffee caramel, light alcohol. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, malty, red berry fruits, yeasty, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Full bodied with average to soft carbonation.

0.33l bottle. Brownish with amber notes, off-white head. Hm, maltier than expected, saliva, dusty-phenolic touches, some fruit, sourness... Underwhelming, not my type.

330mL bottle, pours a hazy amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma has lots of dry bready malts, crush notes, and light spiciness. Flavour has plenty of dry bready caramel malt, a touch of rustic saison yeast, and finished with some old bread crusts. Not particularly complex but it’s clean and drinkable… very bready.

Definitely has a Belgian IPA vibe. Light florals, and some hay and bubblegum. Strong Belgian yeast almost overtakes the hops here. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with great head. Pretty bitter finish. Bottle.

330 ml bottle. Pours a copper color with light head. Aromas of fruity caramel, bready malts and a bit of florals. Flavors of caramel, candi sugar, bready malts and dried fruit. Sweet with a slightly bitter finish. A nice Golden Strong. (This should not be listed as a Tripel, it’s a Golden Strong; correctly categorized Untappd.)

330mL bottle, pours a cloudy dull golden with a large white head. Aroma reveals a fragrant, spicy Belgian yeast character, bready malt, and light earthiness. Flavour is moderately sweet, with a nice spicy Belgian yeast expression, medium sweet candi sugar, and light champagne-like effervescence. I’d prefer less sweetness but the spicy yeast character is really satisfying. Very good.
