Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

12 oz. bottle. Puffy wit head over a somewhat hazy wit body with tinges of orange. Smells shows off wit-type coriander with a slice of orange peel. Some kind of processed concentrate smell I can’t shake off, but the taste is pretty nice. A citrus front, with not much wheat of hop bitterness outside of a little balance. Nice finish.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine South on 06/16/2009. Clear deep amber body with a large rocky off-white head that persists. Sweet caramel, graininess, candi sugar and yeast aroma. Grainy candi sugar flavor, some caramel and roasted malt. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a dense, soapy white head that leaves a nice lace! Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed and some light spice - fairly nice! Light-bodied; Strong assertive malt and yeast in the flavour with a subtle nuttiness, rather potent curacao and a light citrus taste too. Aftertaste is pretty nice - shows some fruits (apricots and blueberries) along with the good wheat and a tiny bit of yeast. Overall, i’m rather surprised that this was a good one - definitely a nice beer and good for the season! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 11-July-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 30-July-2009.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a medium frothy white head leaving behind decent spotty lacing along the glass. A lot of carbonation and bubbles. The aroma is clove, banana, and orange peel. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet wheat taste with coriander and banana with a nice dry finish. A good Wit from Abita.

Bottle at Norfolk (US) beer festival. Dark maroon, scant tan head. Mild fruit aroma, fairly plain flavor, decent malt and sweetish raspberry, inadequately balanced. OK, but not great.

From tap at Yard House in San Diego. Pours hazy deep orange with a small white head. Aroma is crisp orange and tangerine fruity. Mild citric base flavour, rather dry yet refreshing with a bitterness making the finish even more dry and crisp.

12oz bottle–pours a big white head that laces and hazy/cloudy straw color. Aroma is rich wheat/light malt, peach, coriander. Very hearty. Taste is tart lemon, wheat, metallic/spice-coriander. Lighter than expected from aroma. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing.

Bottle was $1.50 for a single at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aromas of sour grass and garbage water which is only saved slightly by a hint of spice. Flavors of grass, some spice (cinnamon and pepper)
