Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours a clear amber with an of-white head. Aroma of dried fruits and yeast. Solid body, dried fruit and brown sugar with a yeasty edge and a whiff of phenols. Strange spicy edge. No bitterness. Not exactly a grand Dubbel. 231109

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is sweet fruity and light herbal. Sweet and citric flavoured with a distinct strawberry flavour from back of the tongue. Smooth candy fruity - yet subdued sweetness. Ends with a lingering strawberry fruity finish. Not bad.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Aroma of strawberry bonbons. Light body, very distinct strawbery accents, appears sweet but is in fact quite dry. A whiff of something peachy and citrusy as well. Finish is mainly dry with hardly any bitterness. 221109

17th August 2008. Pale gold and very slightly hazy. Crisp and a little dry. Dominated by a mild strawberry flavour (like strawberry flavoured sweets). A wishy washy lagerish finish.

I enjoyed this beer. Pour from bottle at the Manchester Pub in NYC. Nice amber color with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor was modestly sweet, malty, with hints of pecan and caramel. Smooth and slightly creamy. Clean finish and pleasant aftertaste.
