Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours reddish amber, fairly hazy, with limited, fine white foam. Aroma is floral, honey, biscuit. Body is slightly dense, with average carbonation. Taste is fairly sweet, with a final rich of honey.

A golden and slightly hazy beer, a head is medium and white. Aroma has riped fruits, citrus, peach. Taste has fruitness, citrus, some pine and bitterness. Medium bodied. I'd prefer more fruits and this should be fresher.

Perfecte kleur, maar aan smaak valt nog wel winst te behalen.

Better than expected, with hearty notes of clove, vanilla, and cut hay, with undertones of banana, vanilla, and coriander. Mild citrus shows up on the finish, with a touch of yeast. Balanced; a bit on the subtle side but very drinkable.

12oz bottle from Total Wine & More, St Petersburg, FL. Light to mid-gold, hazy with a large & slightly loose white head. Strawberry, tropical fruit juice, banana & bubblegum aroma. Sweet and fruity with a juicy bite mid-sip. Big metallic notes in the finish. It’s not bad, but not incredible either.

12oz bottle from Total Wine and More, St Petersburg, FL. Dark brown, only a little bit translucent, a very small beige head. Getting light notes of cocoa beans, caramel, bourbon biscuit. Sweet taste, more chocolate notes and maybe a hint of mint. Little bit of bitterness rounds off the finish. Perhaps a little cookie-cutter, but it’s still very drinkable.

Pour is big and black, nice head, almost chocolate moose. Smell is roasted imperial stout. Taste is very heavy chocolate, dark chocolate. Not too bad but a little bit cloying. Has a pretty good volatile kick to it. Finish with a somewhat bitter medium mouth coating ending.
