Good cream-coloured, fluffy head, pretty persistent over dark chestnut-coloured beer. Strange woodstainer aroma, fleetingly, then more wood and coffee. Finally dry hops and faint cardemom. All in all a pretty complex and layered nose. Hops, my good Doctor, hops! Noble English ones caress the yearning WoostePattyn palate, as well as some dark malts, just enough to sustain. Faint black cardemom remains, but the beer is too weak - I was going to say "too British" - to have an as complex layered taste as its nose. Still pretty good! Light bodied, but nowhere empty. Harviestoun, undeniably amongst the best on the isles. Póg mo thóin, it has balls - Jezza, you knew!

Cask @ Market Porter, Borough. Pours a clear pale golden color with a small white head. Fruity malty hoppy aroma. Sweet malty hoppy flavor. Sweet malty finish with a bitter aftertaste.

50cl. bottle: Pours clear see through yellow with a off white head. Aroma is sweet & sour , fruity/citrus. Taste is fruity hops citrussy/grassy/sweaty/lemon/floral. Light bodied. Reminds me of Deuchars IPA. Quite fresh & drinkable!

A very nice beer. Black and almost not carbonation. Roasted malt aroma. Very smooth palate on this beer, extremely drinkable. Flavor is not as sweet as some old ales, but there is abundant, lightly roasted malt and prominent, earth-peat like flavor. The high abv is well hidden, and I didn’t taste any whiskey.

Golden color. The aroma has some grassy hop. Balanced flavor, dry malt, good grassy hop, and a quite clear yeast footprint that improves it. Dry and a bit astringent. Good and refreshing.

Thick creamy offwhite head slowly settles out of a milky carbonated body, leaving a sharp dividing line and under it a clear amber body. Head has very good cling. Milky fruity malty aroma, quite mild, with resiny notes, quite hoppy. Deep fruity resiny malty floral taste. Excellent harmony. Honey notes. Lots and lots of hops. Dry wooden resiny floral aftertaste. An excellent beer. (0.5pt cask at the Old Mitre.)

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 7 Dec 2007) Golden yellow colour with greenish tinges, slightly hazy. Frothy white head. Fruity nose with grapefruit, lemon and grassy hops. Fruity, slightly grainy taste with notes of lemon, grapefruit and grassy hop in the finish. A bit soapy mouthfeel. Nice and hoppy beer.

Half pint cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden and with little white head. Aroma is slight floral. Flavour is medium sweet to dry. Quite fruity towards floral. Finish holds a fresh bitter and floral note. Nice.
