About Mjøderiet:
Behind Mjøderiet stands five firefighters from Bergen with a passion for mead - an ancient cultural drink that has only in the last few years begun to return to Nordic palates.
With backgrounds as home brewers and beer enthusiasts at various levels, we at Mjøderiet have ambitions to revitalize mead in Norway. We believe Norwegians are ready to take part in the international development where mead has made a comeback in several countries. We think mead is insanely exciting and is a drink with great potential.
Mjøderiet wants to spread knowledge about mead, revive the classic styles and experiment with new and exciting flavors. We want to have a foot in the old mead tradition and one in the new craft brewery culture, where we experiment with fruits and spices, different alcoholic strengths and different levels of carbonic acid.
The meeting room will have diversity.
We want quality, and genuine passion for precious drops.
For painstakingly collected honey from diligent bees. For real fruits and berries, for flavorful herbs and spices. And of course for exciting and unique flavor combinations.
We want to meet the people.

Tap at Bakgården. Clear golden body with a small white head and rather oily consistency. Aroma is strong, noble apple, almost like concentrate apple juice with a nice touch of honey. Flavor is a perfect combination of rich apple juice with balancing acidity and moderate, sweet honey. It’s very sweet but still refreshing and reminds a bit of ice cider in a way. I have never tatted anything like this and it was a positive surprice all over. Fine balanced body as well and long lasting quite sweet aftertaste.

Bottle @ Gunfryds megaticker party. Nice, deep red body under a small off-white head. Aroma has some honey, but there is also a strange and unpleasant scent of over ripe red berries and fruit that reminds me of puke. Some of these elements are found in the taste as well. Rather messy and unpleasant. Sorry.

A bit to much honey in the profile. Still a nice fruit profile. Pleasant and easy drinkable.

Bottle 750ml @ gunnfryd. Pours clear reddish with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of honey, red currant and hint of strawberries. Taste is light to medium sweet and light sour with a long slightly tart berry fruity and honey finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 75cl. Clear, light copper colored with small off-white head. Puke-like aroma with red berries, honey, spices and a herbal touch. Acidic, sweet, full-bodied and warming. A bit unpleasant flavor too, more focus on red berries. Overripe strawberry. Unpleasant.
