I got very excited when the guy in the (big chain) booze store said this was one of the best beers he'd ever tasted. It's also Two Birds, who make fantastic beer so my hopes were high. Clearly that guy has not drunk enough craft beer, because this is OK but it's not great. There's a nice aroma of passionfruit, lemon and musk, but the predominant taste is quite bitter citrus with only a modest amount of passionfruit. I think brewers are doing great passionfruit beers at the moment - there are lots to recommend, but unfortunately this is not one of them.

Bottle. Very clear pale gold with a fluffy white head. 3+ Aroma of gooseberries, underripe stone fruit, herbs, crackers. Has that good lager body - seems somehow both rich and light. Moderate carbonation. Crackers and a little touch of biscuit, lots of gooseberry, nectarine and grassy NZ hops. Dry finish with fairly high bitterness. I wouldn't have objected to a tad more, but it's pretty hoppy. Proper.
