Can. Just hazy gold with a large white head that lasts well. Tropical aroma with passionfruit, mango, mandarin sherbet, a tiny lick of pine is just enough to keep it smelling like beer. Light bodied, fizzy. Fruity but not very sweet, hayish malt is firmer than expected and whilst the fruity hops and (clearly real) passionfruit itself are the main feature, there's bit of bitterness and pineapple-like astringency at the surprisingly bitter finish. Very refreshing. Nicely done, will go very well when it really heats up.

[8/17] Bottle. Deep reddish amber with an inch of cream to beige head. Aroma is lusciously malty but lighter than expected - there’s toffee and a touch of chocolate, light biscuit, floaty citrus, hints of dried fruit where often in this kind of thing there’s some stewed fruit. 7+ Smooth, fullish texture. Fairly sweet with strong bitterness. On the palate there are some minor stewed notes (peach, prune) mingled with some passionfruit underneath the grapefruit. Dries out a little at the (increasingly) bitter finish, leaving nice herbal and citrus things to linger. Fine finish. These big hoppy ambers are not really my sort of thing, but this is very good. Not a sipper nor a beer that hides its strength: a strongish drinking beer. [3.8]
[4/18] Picked up again assuming it was old, thinking of it as a strong ale that's well hopped rather than a hop driven "red IPA". But you'd have to guess they've brewed it again because the hops are pretty damned pungent. A thumping good beer.

Bottle. As Winter Stout. Pretty much black with a light tan head that doesn’t last too well. Aroma of chocolate, mild roast, cream, the hedgerow. Lightish bodied, quite smooth. I would have like carbonation to be a little lower but it’s not that high. Earthier and drier than suggested by the aroma with some berries (Bramling X?) and moderate but distinct bitterness. A little weedy. I like how the stouty flavours have just enough presence to feel rich but then the finish lifts them away.

Taster at GABS Auckland 2017. Pours bright red. Mint, strawberry, rose, dragonfruit. Refreshing, but dragonfruits don’t really have much flavour, and so neither does this.

Pint on tap at Mrs Parma’s, Melbourne. Golden beer, slight haze, thin white head. Medium carbonation. Nose is lemon and malt. Crisp and clean with an increasing citric sharpness. There are hints of earthy hops too. Nice APA. Another solid Two Birds offering.

Tap at The Catfish, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is light toffee caramel hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a rich woody, metallic, light floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Ok but overly hopped and not in a good way. A touch light, lacking any kind of fruit and with a somewhat unpleasant aftertaste.

Part of a good beer week tasting paddle. Agree with other rating, pretty good, the girls have not fallen for trap of over hopping.
