Bottle. Malty coffee aroma. Almost black colour, small creamy head. Creamy mouthfeel. Quite bitter, not sweet or malty. It tastes a bit like malt bitterness, not to my liking.

2003 bottle drank in 2004: Poured a hazy deep burgundy color ale with a small dark beige head with limited retention. Aroma of dried sweet fruit with some floral hops also noticeable. Taste is quite sweet reminiscent of figs and dates with a full body and limited carbonation. Great barley wine, probably one of the best beer from North Coast that I had the chance to sample.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright bronze color with a medium sized foamy tan head that produced a bit of lacing. The aroma was fairly strong floral and citric hops with an undertone of toasted caramel. The flavor is mildly sweet with flowery and perfumey hops and a light nut and caramel undertone. The finish was long, sour and mildly bitter. Fairly full bodied. Solid.
