On tap at Hops, Crewe. Pours golden yellow with a sizable white head and good lacing. There’s yeast and burnt toast in the aroma plus some traces of over-ripe rotting bananas. In the mouth it is quite sweet but with some underlying sharpness. Flavour has continental hops, corn, yeast and alcoholic strength is quite evident. Later on spices and cloves come through as well leading to a very dry finish. This is rather nice but just lacks a certain something.

Bottle picked up from the large Delhaize nr Camping Memmling Brugge and shared with Nick, Anna, Sarah and Charlie Sunday 5th January 2025 at home. We've got a large Chicken and Chorizo Lasagna for tea later. Pours gold with a little bit of haze, nice aroma with a touch of honey amongst the yeasty spiciness, the bourbon barrel ageing is very well integrated. I think that I was a bit harsh with my review I'm going to up it slightly.

33cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark blonde, transparent, with fine white foam, limited. Aroma is fruity, alcoholic, and partially spiced. Body is not particularly dense, with good carbonation, but eventually with quite a mouthful. Taste is fairly bitter for a Belgian ale, with a noticeable alcoholic feeling. Final is slightly longer than average.

330ml panda from LCB. Dark purple with small white head. Big fruity cherry and moderate almond aroma. Taste of fruity moderate tart cherries, almond, cherry liquor, some malt. Its sticky and quite sweet with a mild medicinal bitterness, like a cough syrup, so I can see why it divides opinion. I reckon its a very tasty cough syrup; its certainly cured my cold.

Bottle from LCB. Light cloudy amber with foamy off-white head. Aroma of that Belgium malt and yeast but only mild fruit esters; spice very notable though. There is a lovely smooth medium to full body to this which helps bring out the flavours. Malts with caramel edge, orange peel, apple, grassy and herbal hops. Nice bitterness and quite moreish.

330ml bottle. Pours a dark brown to ruby red with small beige consistent head. Aroma has notes of roast, chocolate, dust, dark dried fruits. Taste is malty with a good depth - caramel, chocolate, mid-roast as well as mixed dried fruit with light tang. Medium to full bodied, liquorice in the finish.
