(Bottle 33 cl) My version from "Brouwerij Biertoren" in Kampenhout that went out of business in 1993. Now the beer is brewed in a similar version by Huyghe. Very dark golden, opaque with some impurities and bottle fermentation. Very full-bodied, dry and easy to drink. Nice alright, but nothing spectacular. 260994

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark indeed with an almost flat appearance, the CO2 is very low. Lightly sweetish with a lovely almost chocolatey aroma. Soft body with a very discreet hoppiness in the palate. An excellent abbey beer. My version was the original from Vieille Villers in Puurs. Now this is brewed by Huyghe. 080194

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark amber with a huge frothy head. Strong hoppiness and pretty much no sweetness. Some yeasty fruitiness. Lots of sediment and naturally bottle fermentation. Credited to "Brasserie Artevelde". 261193

Sligthly hazy orange-golden color, big foamy yellow-brown head. Yeasty, sweetish fruity aroma. Sweet yeasty flavor, some honey and apricot. Medium-bodied. Hides alcohol suprisingly well, it is only sticking in the dry finish. A decent brew, but maybe a bit uninteresting.

Bottle. Sweet, astringent apricot aroma. Golden yellow with giant head. Initial sweet apricot flavor with strong astringent bitter finish. Alcohol level quite apparent but not overwhelming. / 1-31-26 (can)- Golden yellow with moderate head. Apricot, biscuit malt, and fresh hay aroma. Very sweet apricot, biscuit malt and mildly bitter astringent hay flavor. Nice body.

Deep reddish-brown body, thin buff head. Banana, toast, caramel, and alcohol dominated the aroma. Tart, fruity body, with hints of raisin, cherries, and banana in addition to caramel and toast. Alcohol is evident in the finish. Sharp and to-the-point, medium bodied. Decent, although monotonous. Thanks humulus.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour with huge bubbly/foamy head. Sweet yeasty and malty/fruitish hints. Strong sweet wheat in flavour with malty hints. Also some notes of alcohol, but they fit the beer good. Sweet wheaty aftertaste. Oily palate.

I am not much of a fan of this brewer. I have tried this beer a couple of times but it has never lived up to the hype for me. +++Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh this beer poured a medium golden color with a large white head. The aroma is tangy sour malt with a light fruity undertone. The flavor is sour tang, light malt, a bit of fruit and the usual perfumey rose water flavor that this series of beers always has. Of note is the fact that I have had a 3 year old bootle of this beer and it was very nice: 8/4/8/4/17

Clear pale gold; good fluffy yellowish-white head. Vegetable, very grassy nose, hay, greenmalt. Mainly sweet pilsnermalt taste, again a bit grassy, very grainy. Finishes bit tart-metallic, even harsh. Quite refreshing, light bodied, fizzy MF. WTH is this relabled pilsner doing in Australia?

(Bottle 33 cl) On my bottle the alc vol is 4,2% ABV. Dark red-brown, but pretty clear. Weak, creamy head. Sweet "plum-in-Madeira"- aroma. The sweet sensation continues in the flavour, which is like marzipan with a hint of cherry-liquor. Very unusual; More unusual than actually good. Actually doesn’t taste that much like chocolate, but there might be a hint of cocoa. 080103
