(Bottle 33 cl) Dark amber with a huge head. Very unclear - almost muddy appearance. Some spiciness - perhaps even coriander for Joris’ sake? But also a lovely malty feel, some toffee and caramel with a balancing bitterness in the finish. Nice indeed. 020198

Pretty aged bottle, might well hail from Biertoren in Kampenhout Good ochre head, not lasting; slightly hazy amber beer. Caramel, artificial sweetener or cassonade nose, and a very, very faraway acidity (which was the hailmark of the original Aarschotsen bruinen), yoghurt and some nuttiness. Much more lively acidity, metallic and probably lactic acid, yoghurt again, and some biscuity-nuttiness. Light bodied, not thin however, rather refreshing. Metallic aftertaste. Nice, but nowhere up to the stuff of old (Tielemans,...)

(Bottle 75 cl) Dark amber with a tall head. Dark, roasted malty flavours dominate this, but not with the sweetness, you would usually expect in a style like this. On the contrary I find it rather dry with a bitter finish. Well rounded and satisfying beer. 191297

(Bottle 33 cl) Orangey, unclear golden with a huge head. Very fruity - with flavours pointing in all sorts of directions (and no, I reckon there’s no such thing as "Ninkeberry" - it’s a blend). Very refreshing and quenching on a hot day - I think. Sweet but balanced decently from the acidic citrusy Witbier, which is the base of this. 201197

(Bottle 25 cl) My version was only 5,7% ABV. Amber coloured with a pretty, full head. Appears watery at the first sip, but very soon you feel an almost smoked dryness in your mouth. Light in body and very easy to drink - and to drink a lot of. Lovely hoppy nose. A pleasant beer indeed. 200997

Hazy dark brown coloured body with crimson highlihgts and a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of yeast, curacao, coriander seed and honey. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness-curacao and a bit of spice very noticeable up front. Aftertaste clean, but shows a lot of sugars and yeast. Overall, a nice beer but not my favourite tripel. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased by my brother in law earlier in the day from Dean & Deluca in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.) on 09-January-2005.

(Bottle 33 cl) This is the original version from "Villers" in Liezele. Dark golden with a neat although not very huge head. Very sedimented. Some spices on a rather sweet background - nicely balanced by the hops. 170597

(Bottle 33 cl) My version at 9,3% ABV. Jesus, this almost exploded out of the bottle as soon as the cap was removed. Lots of pressure, lots of carbonation - the yeast must have worked overtime in here. Golden with some haze. Some malty notes and a hint of some bitter hops. Slight spice but first and foremost this is very strong with a very pronounced alcohol. 070397

(Bottle 33 cl) With it’s name, it’s pink elephants on the label and it’s imitated white "ceramics" bottle this beer always attracts some attention from the first-timer. Would be easy just to slash it for it’s corny and kitschy appearance but there’s a more than decent beer in here. Deep, hazy golden with a big, lacing head. Very malty sweetness, lots of body and potency. Yeasty notes are very prominent. Only a faint, late bitterness. 121196
