Bottled. Hazy deep golden, small head. Melon aroma. Sweet and minerally, dense and fruity. Full bodied and solidly with some butter and almond character. Herslev’s lighter beers have more personality. This is good, but sort of anonymous and Van Steenberge-like.

Amber with a lasting and creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and brown sugar with a strong spicy licorice note of anise. Sweet and full malt flavour with enough body to carry the rather dominating anise.

On tap at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Copper-colored hazy beer with a small, light tan head. American hops in aroma, citrus-fruits and some alcohol. The alcohol is not overpowering in neither aroma nor flavor. Belgo-flavors with grapefruit and sweet malt, caramel and hints of oranges. Sweet aftertaste with a long bitterness. Rating: 8-4-8-4-17-4.1. 051029
Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A hazy, amber beer with a nice off-white head. Sweetish nose with alcohol and some spices. Sweet, citrusy and spiced flavor, malty sweet and with a nice bitterness. Warming and full-bodied, with a fine bitterness in the finish. Overall, a nice beer, a bit too warming, and I remember it to be much better. Maybe we have grown both of us. 091023

An unclear dark brown beer with an OK light brown head. The aroma contains notes of oranges, lemon, caramel, and alcohol, while the flavor is very sweet with strong notes of caramel and nuts, but also fruits - I pick up oranges. Nice with the extra power.

(On tap) Less star aniseed and a shipload of extra malt drives the alcohol way up in this new version of Herslevs Christmas offering. Unclear brown with an orangey glow and an off-white head. Sweetish, fruity aroma. Very potent body, sweetish vinous with distinct notes of oranges. Very marked and warming alcohol. Incredibly full-bodied but perhaps a tad too heavily alcoholic. 281005
