Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge but collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt which lends it hints of acidity. The flavor is sweet malty again with notes of hard roasted malt and soy sauce, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a slight haze under a huge orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong spicy Columbus notes lending it notes of cinnamon, citrus, and more. The flavor is sweet with a good underlying body on which is notes of caramel, hops, fruit, and spices, among the fruits are mainly grapefruit and lime, and the spices include cinnamon, leading to a rather bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown body with a small beige head. Rather large-bubbled. Pleasant chocolatey aroma with toffee, roasted malt and a little nutty note. Not much nuts evident though, not sure if I would have noticed if it wasn’t for the beers name. There’s also a good dash of dried fruits, as well as a little touch of fresh fruits and hops. It is rather oily, sweet and medium-bodied on the palate, with flavors of dried fruits, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, hoppy bitterness and a little alcohol. Slightly warming from the alcohol as well, even though it’s only 6.5% ABV. Long finish with hoppy bitterness blending nicely with chocolate, sweetness and toffee. Slightly oxidized too? A nice, easy to drink beer well suited with stews and cheese I think. (080421)
