Can on a Friday night. Lovely chestnut colored and a fingers worth of beige head. Nose is nutty and bready. Tastes of dark bread crust, dried fruit, caramel, quite earthy, little rootbeer. Medium bodied. Quite lovely.

Pours deep, hazed gold into a willi. Soapy white head with good retention recedes leaving soapy lacing to coat surface. Caramel aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and straw upfront turning metallic(?) in the dry, earthy finish.

Can thanks to Jack! Pours a clear light yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice straw with a growing grass presence and a decent amount of hay supporting. Flavor has a nice hay note throughout with a bit of grass and straw growing through the finish.

Canned 8/3/22, drunk 8/19 and 8/20/22. Clear maize-brass. Large, well-retained white head. Well it doesn't have the gross, paper pulp character that I associate with Alsatian pilsners. Does have the black pepper and light floral notes with heavy biscuit and no alcohol or flaw. Light minerality. Soft, very round for a lager, wanting a bit more grain/crispness. In that sense, it tastes cheap and improper for a great pils, yet here the beer is clean and biscuity/doughy with soft herbal and peppery notes. Sourdough-like notes pick up as well.

Brighton Taproom draught, 8/19/22. Hazy/cloudy blonde-lemin. Large, dense, white head, good retention. Oh yeah, sulfur-rich and malty. Less hop than I'd expect but gaining some fruitiness as it warms. Bubble gum and melon on the end. No alcohol, resin. Fruity, soft, malty, bubble gummy. Probably a lot more yeast driven than I care for, or maybe I just don't care for this yeast. Incredibly low bitterness. Tangerine, melon, table sugar. Lol is this a Grimm IPA??!

Draught at Brighton Taproom, 8/19/22. Cloudy lemon. White head shows moderate retention. Wow, been a while since I've had a smoked Weisse. Not sure I've even had more than just Schlenkerla's. Smoked banana, rich wheat, strong mineral with light honey to balance. Clove and little/no bubblegum. Clove up front, very much outdoing the smoked character. Soft wheat and honey with light bread dough and soft pepper. I recognize this isn't supposed to be a glass of bacon but I'd prefer a bit more smoke-to-clove ratio here. Otherwise, it's malty, well-attenuated, clean and drinkable.

2nd pour from a freshly tapped gravity cask at the Brighton Taproom, 8/19/22. Clear bronze-maize, large, off-white head showing moderate retention. Fresh herbs, mineral and a mix of dainty honey and cracker. Clean with lemon pepper, light sourdough and a hint of white grape. Earthy, mineral-heavt yeast/water character with moderate, fresh herbal hops balancing a cracker and honey-rich, malty texture with strong attenuation. Soft and drinkable with great balance.
