In the period after 1850, the De Meester-Boelens brewery was founded at the current address in the Kerkstraat. in 1897 the name changed to Boelens-De Meester. Brewing stopped during World WarI, after the war the family continued the business as a bottling and beer enterprise. In 1978 Kris Boelens took over the beer business from his father. He reintroduced beer brewing in Belsele in 1993. In 2016 his son Yannick Boelens joined the brewery.

Red hazy body. Lightly creamy pink head. Aroma of red candy. Unbalanced sweet and bitter with artificial cherry flavour. Dull.

Darkish red. It’s certainly a sweet one but feels a bit artificial like saccharin. Quite bland.

Purple color with white head. Aroma is sweet dough, phenols, syrupy cherry. Taste is dough, phenolic, apples. Medium carbonation. Sweet finish. Not terrible, but I don’t get Tripel Kriek as a style. De Leite is the only one I’ve liked so far...

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Sampled @ ZBF 2016. (Thank you for sharing RB people!) Brewed at De Graal now according to the beer list. Deep cherry juice red with a dark pink head, looking at the colour, I doubt that they used actual fruit here. Nose is soap & artificial cheap cherry. Taste is oddly bitter at first, bitter chemical soap, tastes aboslutley unhealthy & chemical, low candy, fizzy chemical, mainly chemical fizzy bitterness. Pretty rubbish even for a sweetened kriek, a style that has reached absolute perfection a long time with Lindemans Kriek.

23/IV/16 - sample @ Zythos Bierfestival 2016 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2016-405) Thanks to the BE RB crew for sharing beers today!
Clear deep ruby red beer, creamy pink head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet and fruity, sugary, cherry candy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: little sourish, cherry flavour, pretty bitter, fruity. Aftertaste: fruity, actually lots of banana and yeast, sweet and sugary finish. Because more cherry flavoured beer, that's what Belgium needs!
