Bottle bought at the brewery. Organic beer with very thick and frothy, foamy, yellow beige-ish off-white, dense and stable head, thickly lacing and remaining closed for a long time; hazy orange blonde colour with ochre-ish hue and some visible sparkling here and there. Aroma of soggy brown bread, apricot, quite outspoken DMS (overly cooked green cabbage), raw carrots, banana peel, yellow raspberries, soap, peanuts, bread crust, pepper, vague hints of rosemary, ginger, dry tree leaves, rose petals, persimmon. Fruity onset, bit estery, hinting at dried peach, light banana and pear, only restrainedly sweetish with a balancing sourish touch, quite soft, gentle carbonation with some minerally notes here and there, slick and soapy mouthfeel. Nice bready and somewhat nutty, eventually even very lightly toasty-bitterish malt core, some spicy phenols (cloves) towards the end, lingering dried fruit accent, but everything comes together in a moderately but characterful hoppy finish; even at ’only’ 30 IBU (Andy sets a good example by mentioning this on the label, by the way), the hops provide a pleasant peppery and leafy bitterness that lingers for quite a while alongside the toasty accent in the malt department. I was expecting a ’red IPA’ based on the name - with ’Cascadian’ clearly referring to the New World hops - and though this beer certainly has traits reminiscent of that, it has much less of an IPA profile than I expected. Better considered as a Belgian amber ale with a light ’international’ touch and in that sense a very pleasant, quenching, gently bittering and appetizing beer, just too bad for the DMS, which I am very sensitive to.

Clear deep orange beer, small irregular creamy yellowish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty spicy, ginger bread, bit sweet, malty, fruity notes. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty start, some citrus, very bitter, a hint of tropical fruits, grains. Aftertaste: bitter, grassy, pretty refreshing, hoppy, bit metallic, veyr dry and bitter finish, lacking some of the caramel malty flavours one would expect from an Irish red ale.

Pretty cloudy orange beer, big creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, lots of coriander, yeasty, dusty, bit fruity, hint of banana. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: slightly sourish, grains, malty, pretty bitter, coriander, bit dusty, some banana. Aftertaste: nice bitterness, pretty dry, grassy, bit metallic, coriander, bitter, dusty.

Clear blond to orange beer, big frothy yellowish head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Nothing cloudy about it. Aroma: very fruity, bit floral, some tropical fruits, yeast touch. MF: very lively carbon, too much actually, medium body. Taste: fruity start, some tropical fruits, banana juice, citrus, little sweet, mango notes. Aftertaste: fruity, peach candy, bit sweet, more tropical fruits, beneath a pretty yeasty and gentle bitter finish. Definitely not a NE IPA, but instead a pleasant hoppy Belgian ale I'd say.

Ambar, clara, de espuma blanquecina. Sedimento visible. Aroma malteado y miel. En boca mantiene, con predominio dulce. Añadiendo notas florales. Paso suave, agradable.

New saison, not to be confused with the slightly stronger Prearis Blond, which is among the more widely distributed (and elsewhere brewed) regulars in the range; this one is a new interpretation, only brewed as a ’boutique’ beer by Andy Dewilde himself in his micro brewery in Oedelem. Bottle bought at the brewery. Fairly thick and regularly shaped, audibly crackling, fizzy, egg-white, moussy head, slowly showing gaps in the middle; lightly hazy ’old gold’ coloured beer with visible sparkling and somewhat ochre-ish tinge, cloudy with sediment. Aroma of sweet red apples, ripe pear, banana, dough, powder sugar, white bread, quite strong DMS unfortunately (overcooked white cabbage), moist white pepper, ginger powder, pineapple, hints of field flowers, soap, honey, minerals. Fruity onset, banana ester mixed with impressions of pineapple, pear and slight starfruit, sweetish with sourish edges, fizzy carbonation, prickling but not so much numbing, supple, but (too) soapy mouthfeel. ’White bready’ malt sweetish middle, cereally, smooth with the fruity esters continuing and some spicy phenols popping up here and there, evolving to a mildly hoppy, grassy, bit peppery finish providing quenching bitterness and some floral aspects, medium long; the estery and malty sweetish aspects linger beyond this, as well as the soapiness, an aspect which many of the recent Prearis beers seem to have. Straightforward thirst quencher, not the most ambitious or original beer I had from Vliegende Paard so far and suffering a bit from the DMS, but basically suits its purpose. Not that far removed from the regular Blond really, perhaps a tad spicier in the details, but more or less qualifying as a saison if so many other Belgian blondes do - but then, could have done with a drier, more rural character to be a truly convincing one that stands out against the masses of simple blondes now labelled as ’saison’ simply because it has become internationally fashionable.

Pours unclear, dark amber. Medium sized, medium stable white head. Smell is bready, toasty, mild hoppyness ( fruity, bit grassy ) doughy. Very full. Taste is intense, toast, doughy aspects. very , very nice malty profile ! Hoppyness is low to medium, but who cares about hops with a maltselection like this, right? :) very nice brew.

Bottle at Gollem. pours unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is mildly hopped, fruity, style of NZ hops. Taste is soft, bit sharp carbo. Grainy, in a perfumy way. Very soft, mellow hops.

z0.33l bottle in moscow. pours a hazy pale amber with a frothy steady head. mild aroma of belgian yeast, funk, candy. flavour of tea, bread, yeast, candy, alcohol. didn?t get the promised lapsang souchong phenols.
