Widget Can
Beautiful dark amber color; yoghurt-like head. Nice aroma, malty and a bit fruity. Smooth, a bit malty, caramel, correct bitterness. Easy to drink, quite simple.

Yeah, yeah, the widget-in-a-can variety, shame on me... Typical ultra-dense cream, pale beige, forever on top of black beer. Smoked, cured ham-like (nowhere in the Bamberg league, mind you), black malts, faint sweetness, all subdued. Typical Guinness combination of outspoken burnt taste; light, watery MF, with a creamy texture and a slight sourish finish. Very littel (smoked) bitterness, no sweetness left in the finish. The looks, it’s got them. The taste of freshly poured Dublin Guinness, NO WAY. And I still prefer the John Martin VSES version (or the lamented Park Royal Christmas!!!). Good intro for lagerdrinkers opening their minds to other things, I suppose.

Canned. Copper coloured, huge creamy, longlasting head. Malty aroma with hints ofhops. Very smooth palate. Weak taste, mainly of malt and some hints of roast. A bit hoppish aftertaste. Not that special in any way, but you could drink a lot of it...4 5 5 5 12

Canned (to celebrate the 10th anniversary of 2Pac on RateBeer). Deep amber/pale copper colour with a longlasting big creamy slightly off-white head. Aroma is mild sweet maltyness along with some creamy and floral hoppy notes. Flavour is quite similar, with the hops having a bit more of a kick than in the aroma. 5 4 5 3 10.

Clear orange-red body, thick puffy off-white head. Dry, toasty aroma with just a slight hint of fruit. Bitter. Flavor reminds me a bit of Guinness with a roasted, somewhat metallic astringency damaging the palate. Relatively bitter and grainy, very dry. Just a touch of caramel/fruit at the end of the bottle when the beer had warmed significantly. Definitely not one of the best Irish Ales out there.

Bottled. Black opaque with small brown, lasting head. Aroma of roasted malt along with toffee. Roasted malt/smokish flavour with hints of coffee. The finish is a bit bitter. Alcohol is wellhidden. Nice.

Can
Blond color. Aroma of malt and cereals. Quite dry, too much carbonated, crude cereals taste and too high bitterness. Unbalanced.

Pour is dark red with a white foamy head. Aroma is weak but there are some rosted malts in there. Flavor is pretty weak as well. Again you get some roasted malts but that is about it. When i bought this I was thinking this could be real good being brewed by Guinness and all but i was mistaken.

330 ml bottle, bought at Selfridge’s, London. Black (= very dark brown) colour. Truly impressive large and thick brown head. Aroma of malts, oak, leather, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour is overwhelmingly bitter from the roasted barley and hops, but also sweeter than regular Guinness. Elements of very strong coffee, hints of bitter chocolate. Bitterness lasts through the long aftertaste. Not for beginners. The crowd who think nitro draught Guinness is "sooo strong" should try this one!

Bottled (BB 07/2005)
Well-known Guinness outlook: opaque black with creamy expresso head. Quite mild nose with roasted malts and milk chocolate. Smooth, watery with hard metallic mouthfeel. Lacks bitterness in the mouthfeel totally. Roasted flavors come in the aftertaste. Quite tasteless.

Tapped. Dark brown (close to black) with huge brown foamy head. Mainly smoky aroma with small soapish tone. Flavour is smoky with hints of rye bread. Good palate and wellbalanced taste. 6 4 6 4 13.

Nitro Can. (re-rate due to the 10th anniversary of 2Pac on RateBeer). Very deep rubyish black colour with a mediumsized white head. Mild smoked wood, some slight roasted malts as well as mild ashes. Flavour is ashes, mild roasted notes with some rye and mild creamy notes. Quite a thick palate, though not too strong flavour. 6 4 6 4 13. Nice to see that the points given a long time ago are still the same on this one.
