Killkenny Draught 440 ml nitrocan. Pours an enormous creamy head, then that subsides to around 0.7cm. Deep orange/near brown colour. No noticable aroma, maybe a bit malt. Taste is predominantly water, maybe a bit malt maybe, roasty and nothing else. Worthless. 2/4/4/1/8 Bottled version Rerate: Oh dear, I gave the previous rating (7/4/5/3/13) thinking that what I drank was a bad bottle, but now I tried it again, but everything I didn’t like about it was still there, the ugly aftertaste, the lack of taste, everything. I just hope that this is better in Ireland, and that they export only bad batches. Because what I’m drinking right now is just bad. Original rating: Quite a fine ale, looks quite good, with a nice, creamy head. Tastes just fine, maybe some caramel can be felt, but the aftertaste is offputting, like something got burned, and it stays for a while. 5/4/4/2/11

Nitrocan Version (4.2%):I had a feeling that my Guinness Draught is rated too high, compared to, say, Extra Stout, so I decided to drink it from a nitrocan, just to make a more realistic rating. The appearance is great of course, pitch black, very creamy white-going-tan head. Ok. The nose just isn’t there, subdued caramel tinged with alcohol maybe. The taste.... smooth, watery, far more bearable than Killkenny draught. It’s frighteningly similar though. A bit of bad soury fruitiness, that probably comes from the nitrogen infestation of a once bearable stout, overroasted malt background. The bitterness here doesn’t come from hops as far as I can taste. The aftertaste is a nitrogen void, with some remaining bitterness on the part of the tongue nearest to the throat. Why do they do this ? On tap, this was really nice, now, it’s a pale (ok, black, heh) shadow of its former self. As nitrocan stouts go, better than Beamish, worse than Murphy’s. 4/5/4/2/8Draught version: Draught at an irish pub in Lloret Del Mar, Spain. It certainly looked magnificent in the glass. The head was small, but quite thick, smooth, and almost creamy, it also stayed till the end. The taste was strong, a bit coffeeish (certainly not too much). It was all in all, a very good stout.7/5/7/3/16

Deep black color, short brown head. Aroma of black and roasted malts, coffee with cream, chocolate, hint of alcohol, some artificial strawberry milky something. Taste is sweet, roasted malts, some sour creamy tone. Sweet sour aftertaste and slightly bitter with a sticky palate. --- Beer merged from original tick of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout on 13 May 2018 at 12:03 - Score: 5. Orange brown ale with a thick dirty off-white head. Rather grassy lager aroma. Some maltiness with nutty notes in the attack, but with not much else in the finsih, rather like slightly bitter mineral water with tonic. Dull.

A nice tasting lager. Not too strong or bitter. A good tasting beer. Better than the average American macro.

Nitro can: Poured a dark black beer with a nice foamy head with ultra long retention due to the nitro ball. Aroma and taste are quite dry and bitter with notes of roasted malts also being very present. Aftertaste is a bit too watery for my liking but overall I think this is a classic and pretty decent classic drink.

Can with widget. Barely detectable malt aroma with that widget smell. Looks great - dark brown with smooth tan head. Creamy dark malt flavor - on the watery side. Decided to drink this along side the extra stout version - only difference is the carbonation level.

A black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted bread and malt. The flavor is nicely roasted with notes of smoke and roasted bread. It really gives You the warmth - it is almost so thick that You have to chew it. A really nice beer.

Nitro can: Poured a creamy light brown beer with a nice thick creamy head that has lasting retention (the head is similar to the Guinness). Aroma is very light with some small notes of malts. I founded the taste to be very creamy with some small notes of roastiness and sweetness. This beer was a bit dry at the end with a small watery aftertaste but again subtler then Guinness. Overall, this is a very enjoyable session beer from a ‘’decent’’ brewery.

Bottle: Poured a brownish looking beer with a nice bubbly head with standard retention. some notes of creamy and caramely taste. Overall, this is a very decent session irish ale but nothing out of the ordinary or too complex.Aroma is a mix of hops and sweetness. Taste is quite bitter with a dry finish.
