Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

Can picked up at Marine Hotel, Stonehaven. It pours ever so slightly hazy deep amber with a rugged, thick off - white head - not dissimilar to orval. The aroma is musty, funky brett vibes, brown bread, digestive biscuit, dried lime, gooseberry, melon and white grape. The taste is firmly dry, bitterness which builds and lingers, toothy, metallic twang, deep funk, barnyard, Brett, spicy, fizzy lemon - lime, pithy, zesty, sour white grape, gooseberry, melon, hint of acidity, white wine, brown bread, digestive biscuit and dry wood with a dry, funky finish. Medium body and moderate+, fluffy carbonation. Definitely has plenty of orval characteristics. Fruit, dry and funky. A nice ode to one of the best beers in existence.

Can from Fountainhall Wines, Stonehaven. It pours jet black with a decent khaki head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, dark chocolate covered coffee beans, treacle, molasses, mellow honey, umami, liquorice and distant bonfire smoke. The taste is firmly dry, pretty bitter, dark roasted malt, charred malt, chewy, toothy, umami, liquorice, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate covered coffee beans, molasses and dull acidity with drying, dark roasted finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Honey is not as big a part of this beer as expected, it's quite subtle. Nice dry stout nonetheless.

Hazy purple-y beer, decent pinkish head. Smells of blackcurrant as you might expect, but of actual fruit, not sugary 'blackcurrant flavour.' Flavour has tart blackcurrant, a little berry jam, a bit of acidity, some citrus. Nice flavour of actual fruit, a bit of sugary, jammy sweetness through the finish. Very decent.
