Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of acetone, light sweet. Taste is apples, banana. Finishes hot and boozy. Bit young maybe.

Aroma of rich deep dark malts, savoury soy, oak wood, leather, smooth deep mellow roast, complex, tad of dark fruits, woody
Taste of very rich dark malts, deep mellow roast, savoury notes, very oaky, dark chocolate, tar, complex, very savoury, yeast, too oaky for me
Palate - Full body, fairly sweet, alcohol a bit noticeable. Finish as main flavour, lingering rich dark malts, lots of oak
Overall - Well I tried it at last...very rich and complex but its too oaky and woody - and I’m not that keen on that oaky flavour - its a bit astringent. I prefer the plain GKH - it’s more drinkable. Maybe other years are better. Going on this year alone it’s not the best UK impy. I ordered 2 bottles and came to the same conclusion with both.

Bottle from BenH as part of European local swap, many thanks. Vintage 2012. Almost black color with thick beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, wood. Coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, raisins, caramel in taste together with alcohol and wood. Tasty, well balanced sipper.

500ml Bottle: BBE 06/2015, bought at the brewery, Lot 761. Poured into a UK pint sleeve at home during a random beer rating evening with myself on 14/03/15. What a cracking looking beer, poured slowly because it’s bottle conditioned I got a lovely clear terracotta coloured body with a full foaming blanket of beige bubbles for a head. Nose and flavour are semi-sweet maltiness, some bittering hops arrive mid-sip but are hidden in the aroma and only appear in the flavours once the initial maltiness backs off a little. Decent beer, easy to drink and well worth finding.

Bottle (2011) during the hotel lobby share after the RBWG 2015 bus tour. Dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas of caramel, spice, chocolate, dark fruit. Tastes of chocolate, roast. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
