Bottle thanks to Ed, shared with Niller, Hammel, DK (2011 Vintage) - inky black coloured pour with thin tan head. Aroma and taste is sweet and roasted malty, big bold chocolate notes, some dark fruit, soy, some subtle burnt malty sugar notes, so smooth and luxurious on the palate, wooden oaky nuances, subtle vanilla trace into the finish. Outrageously immense. Love it,

Bottle shared at Leightons place, 14/12/15. Thanks to Daniel for this one. Nice reddy amber coloured pour lasting cream coloured head. Aroma is toffee cakey malts, red berry, cranberry, semi sweet, Flavour is composed of little solvent. Flavour is nutty toffee malts, red berry, little spice, mineral. Palate is semi sweet, moderate airy carbonation, grainy.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Daniel. Pours clear, glowing amber with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has dried fruits, bread, a little English yeast. Medium sweet flavor with bready malts, light toffee, toasted biscuits, dried berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet and bready on the finish with notes of butterscotch, light leafy hops, more leathery berries. Very tasty.

Bottle big thanks to Danny. It pours clear deep brown with a thick yellow-white head. The nose is woody, varnish, leather, caramel, dried fruits, earth, raisin and fruit cake. The taste is bitter, woody, leather, caramel / caramel, bready, raisin, toasty, dried fruits and spice with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Boosty strong. Not bad.

Bottle split at the Bespin cloud network, thanks to Danny, 15/12/15. Reddish amber with a decent beige covering. Nose is sweet malt, cream soda, caramel, light booze, fruit loaf. Taste comprises sweet toffee, toasted brown sugar, biscuit, fruit loaf, orange rind. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Stronge.

500ml bottle from the brewery, poured into a UK pint sleeve at home on 11th Dec 2015, some 5 months before it’s BBD. No sediment left the bottle, so I got a lovely clear amber bodied beer with a full white foam blanket on top. Perfumed, floral nose, interesting aroma all round. The taste has a semi-sweet malt front with a deep hop based depth that takes over mid-sip. Complex and different, a beer to sip, not to rush or gulp. Very, very pleasant in deed.

Bottle. From Eebria ages ago. 9 months out of date. Clear, very dark red. Big, bubbly head, that settles into a lasting film of tan. Lots of fizz to this. Nose has ripe plum. Milk chocolate. Soft vine fruit. Some earthy, charred wood to it, too. Taste is dry. Very earthy. Loads of fizz. I must say I don’t like stouts with too much fizz. Finishes mostly dry. Ok. Should have drunk this a year ago, so I can’t be too unkind.

10th Oct 2015: 330ml bottle obtained at the brewery. BBE Sep 2016, Lot No 820. Poured an amber colour, the head off-white. Aroma had a toffee and dark berry fruit lead. The taste was also semi-sweet toffee and berries, but with a mild spicy touch. Not a lot of hop action for an Imp IPA, have the brewery got the style wrong, or more likely the hop combination didn’t have the effect they expected? I liked the beer but in a blind tasting would have gone for a barley wine if asked the style.
