Bottle at Bespin, thanks to LKS, 27/06/16. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige swirl. Nose is chocolate, orange peel, light spice, bourbon biscuit, dark malts. Taste comprises toffee, biscuit, light cocoa, earthy, dark malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bite. Decent offering for the style.

Bottle thanks to LKS. It pours dark brown with a decent beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, brown bread, malt loaf, cocoa, treacle, toast and cereal. The taste is bitter - sweet, malt - driven, toasted grain, earth, wood, leather, toasted nut and cacao nibs with a drying, toasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Decent.

Bottle shared in W2 - sourced from Eebria. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Lightly roasted malts in the nose, toasted biscuits, faint cocoa and caramel. Medium sweet flavour with rich bready malts, more toast, toffee, mild scorched earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, more of the same, toasted biscuit, faint dried fruits. Really enjoyable beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark opaque brown pour with a bubbly light tan head, aroma has dark fruit and some light roast, taste has dandelion and burdock pop, dark fruits, some liquorice, roast finish.

Bottle 2008 Vintage. Frothy White fair mostly deminishing head. Black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hopy aroma. Heavy bitter nice flavor. Chocolate and coffee notes. long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle - thanks Santa! Pours opaque black with a medium creamy brown head that lasts and laces well. Aroma is licorice and roasted malts. Flavor is lots of anise, molasses, some cocoa, roasted malts, hints of tobacco. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. A little high on licorice for me to truly enjoy.

1st Rate of 2016: 330ml bottle (Lot 825 BBE 10/2016). Poured into a Westmalle chalice just after midnight early hours of 1st Jan. What a great way to start a year. Drank with a ’Double Decker’ chocolate bar, really worked. The deep malty brew with it’s chocolate and coffee flavours were complimented by the sweeter, lighter confectionary and it was a fitting nightcap to an English tasting session I held with myself throughout New Years Eve cumulating with this fine Imp Stout. Would have preferred the head to be deeper and richer, but that is a small consideration compared to the overall enjoyment of such a flavoursome beer.

Bottleshare at Chez Smith. Thanks to Dan. Clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Fluffy dry malts, some creamy sweetness. Mild spice. Little ripe citrus. A mild bitterness builds through the light semi dry finish. Okay.
