Bottle from the brewery, via Eebria. Just about black. Halo of tan head. Blackcurrant. Muscovado sugar. Black treacle. Vine fruits. Christmas pudding. Light smoke. Taste is chewy, smoky sweetness. Some dry bitterness follows. Palate is thick, tooth clinging oiliness. In lovely condition. Worthy of the hype.

Bottle from the brewery, via Eebria. Nearly clear, dark yellow. Thin, lasting, white head. Sweet and malty, with a light, honey spiciness. Taste is dry, and a tiny bit yeasty. Lively palate. Dry finish. Decent pilsener.

275ml bottle. Brewed 09.11.2011. Pours a very dark brown-black with a brown head that slowly dissipates to a thin layer and aroma of malt, light roasted, molasses, honey, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is sweet roasted malt, peaty, chocolate, fig, brown sugar, dark fruits, toffee, coffee, leather, woody oak, light grassy. Silky smooth and slighty oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, warming finish. Complex, balanced, very drinkable.

Bottle courtesy if Hugh. Thanks man! Pours tiny hazy pitch black with a small creamy dark chocolate brown head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, hay, banana bread, chocolate cake, toffee, alcohol, salty liquorice, dark roast coffee and subtle hints of glue. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and malty with heavily roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, bitter chocolate, charred wood, soil, banana / chocolate cake, sweet liquorice hard candy, alcohol and hints of molasses. Mouthfeel is thick, creamy, round, tiny boozy and full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, charred wood, dark roast coffee, sweet liquorice hard candy, hay, soil and hints of chocolate sponge cake, Rich, smooth and incredibly tasty...

Light chocolate roast, sweet fruit on nose, taste is rich chocolate, vanilla, huge dark fruits, berries, sweet, light toffee. 2005 - Pours black, nose is chocolate, woody, little oxidised, taste is sweet, toffee, chocolate, rich. 2007 - Pours black, nose is light chocolate, toffee, vanilla, taste is rich chocolate, vanilla, sweet. 2012 - Pours black, nose is fruity, chocolate, taste is quite dry and sweet, roast malts, chocolate.

27.5cl bottle courtesy of markwise, thanks Mark. It pours with a murky amber body that supported a two minute long tan head. The aroma offers up malts, a dash of biscuit malts to slightly roasted malts and then it heads into firm levels of brown sugar, plums raisins and a bit of booze at the end of the draw. The taste begins in a similar fashion with some smooth sweet malts lined with a malt sweetened mild roastiness. The brown sugar note quickly kicks in along with plums and raisins and a slight boozy roughness. In the background there seems to be a little molasses to sort of fruit cake notes. Decent old school barleywine.

Bottle 500ml. @ cgarvieuk [ Lets do a chrisO Tasting ], Edinburgh, Scotland. [ As Old Chimneys Parnassus ].Clear medium orange yellow color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, pale malt, earthy malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, earthy malt, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140315]
