330 ml. bottle purchased during ACBF 2015 @ Bierhalle Deconinck. BBF 18/12/16. Bottle says that this beer was brewed in Belgium but no brewery is mentioned. Clear dark amber, off-white creamy head. Nose is thick pine resin mixed with herbal sweetness, acacia, herbal caramel goop,… lots of pine resin hops mixed with the previously described sweetness,… Taste is bitter caramel-thick pine mixed with herbal caramel, strong bitter sticky resin, very heavy on it mixed with pine resin sweetness, definite herbal character, there is a light bitter almost alcoholic quality to it, light floral,… Body is thick pine resin, the bitterness lingers in the back of your throat and is followed briefly by a resin sweetness. There is just so much concentrated pine resin to be found here. Whilst I personally prefer far more fruity DIPA – if possible other styles as well – I can certainly appreciate this. I have to admit that I did expect a more unique hop profile considering the hop variety but still this is spot-on for an interpretation of the USA DIPA variety even if it is probably a touch more sweeter with some caramel notes than any USA homegrown execution would probably be. Either way this appears another case of Belgium producing a stellar, clearly USA styled beer for the commission & foreign market whilst dabbling in depressing supposedly hop-forward beers for the internal market for the large part safe for some noteworthy breweries.

Bottle shared by Erwin Van Moll & Jaap @ Brewpub Van Moll. Thanks for sharing all those beers today guys!! Slightly unclear dark orange color, medium to full sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, hops, fruit hops, some resin and pine. Taste lightly malts, a lot of hops, firm resin, pine and spruce, very bitter. Sticky texture, full body, suitable carbonation. Love this!

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Jaap. Very nice brown color with a deep dark red to purple glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma very briefly had some hops coming through, but then quickly disappears and malts, lightly leaves and brown sugar replace it. Taste malts, brown sugar lightly, leaves, earthy, caramel lightly, brown malts, malty bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Ok beer but definitely room for improvement.

Pours rather unclear blonde . Smell is funky, brett , oak . Slightly sour . Taste is dry , wood , sharp , sour-forward, with a funky back up . Rather high ( and sharp ) yet still good carbonation . Dry , funky ending with wood aspects lingering around as well . Certainly a nice geuze , just nit sure why the price needs to be so high . Price/quality , I’d prefer the sour fruit .
