Lager. Call it premium if you want, still just tastes like lager. Granted, a little better than your average swill, but still a lager. Pours golden with ok head and lacing - better than their cream ale in fact. Finishes with some like sugary malt. Bottle from brewery.

Tastes like a rusty lager. Not even any real sense of cream here. Pours orange with no head or lacing. Some crisp barley finish. Fizzy texture. Bottle from brewery.

Not quite what I envision a strong ale is. Pours reddish clear with ok head and lacing. Mostly caramelized, sweet malt in aroma with a little woodenness and some booze. Finishes sweet and boozy. Bottle from their store.

More than the appearance, this one actually tastes a little coppery. Some crisp malt, some caramel. Comes together ok. Pours with good head and lacing, finish is a little bitter. Average carbonation. Bottle from brewery.

Pretty decent malt profile here but not much hops. Pours clear dark amber with fizzy head, some lacing. Finishes with light bitterness. Has some booze with the caremelized malt. Soft carbonation. Bottle from brewery.

This IPA poured a medium amber colour with a big, white, foamy head. Nice lacing. To the nose there are scents of malt, dough and grass? First sip was smooth with flavours of floral hops with a med/high IBU. Finish is bitter with a light malt, heavy hop flavour lingering.

A hazed amber IPA with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, strange boiled veggies, grassy malt, no hops. In mouth, a smooth grassy malt with with herbal hops, smooth bitterness, oily mouthfeel. Cask at Ontario Cask IPA Challenge, April 21, 2012.

Originally rated May 2004. True North Cream Ale is golden coloured (almost amber), has a good amount of carbonation, and a head that doesn’t last long. I can taste hints of rasberries, with a slight bitter aftertaste. I prefer this cream ale to Sleeman’s.
