Description
As a microbrewery, our focus is on providing a wide variety of beer styles in addition to fostering the local interest in the brewing of craft beer. We consider brewing to be a craft and, whether you are brewing in your garage or on a huge production system, brewing a good beer and sharing it with others is a great way to bring together friends or even an entire community. We are proud to live in a town that is currently supporting two brewpubs and a nanobrewery, and look forward to doing our part to be a leader in the craft brewing revolution.
People in the U.P. work hard, take great pride in what is produced locally and have answered the call in supporting and improving the local economy. The name "Ore Dock Brewing Company" was chosen because we see our local ore docks as grand and iconic reminders of Marquette and the U.P.'s past, present, and future identity. We hope to provide a product and establishment that our community can be proud of for many years to come!

Poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a ruddy semi-transparent sort of glossy amber color. Carbonation could be seen rising at a decent pace to fill a one finger white foamy head. Fairly quick dissipation. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma centered around some dry nuttiness and some toasty to bready malts. Light toffee and some caramel malts.
The flavor was malty sweet smooth and then a light tang to it. Sharp bitter crisp malty aftertaste with a sly finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. Mild smoothness.
Overall, decent except for the tanginess, not sure where that came from, but another mostly okay sort of beer by Ore Dock.

Poured into a pint glass at the brewery.
The appearance was a hazy orange to brown color with a thin finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head. Stringy lace.
The aroma had some nutty to grainy and dried pomme-like fruitiness to it. Slight tanginess to it.
The flavor centered around the pomme-like fruity portion and brought in the tang again.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable sort of sweet to tangy feel. Carbonated fine, but the tang seems to bite a bit more than expected.
Overall, weird altbier, in fact, not much of one. I didn’t mind so much for me, but true altbier lovers will probably be disappointed in this one.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a pale/hazy burnt orange color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma weaves light sweet pulpy orange into a sweet wheaty base. Low bitterness.
The flavor takes the orange and the sweet wheat to combine nicely. Wheat doesn’t bite in aftertaste or finish but comes across smoothly balancing with the orange nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a clenching grip of the wheat on my tongue. Low to medium carbonation.
Overall, nice APWA with a bit more body to it than some others of it’s style. Still, a nice thirst quencher and crushable.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a slight amber to orange color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head. Moderate light lace.
The aroma had the normal qualities of an Irish red ale - malty nutty crisp notes, toffee, caramel, toast/breadiness. Low grassy bitter hops.
The flavor leans malty sweet through the previously mentioned aromas and carries the bitterness from the hops slyly in underneath. Low malty aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sly sessionability about it. Low carbonation. Malty smoothness over my tongue.
Overall, good Irish red ale that I would have again.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange almost brown color. Thin white cap of a head. Mild trickling lacing.
The aroma starts off with some malty caramel to toffee tones. Sly nuttiness. Light toast, some grassiness.
The flavor brings it altogether malty sweet and very clean. Malty rich nutty to caramel aftertaste. Quick malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a really nice sessionable smooth malty feel. Low carbonation.
Overall, this one was a pretty good ESB, pass the fish n’chips.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, wood, light dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, wood, light dark fruit/nuttiness, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, wood, light nuttiness, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is a very nice American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light yeast ester flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable and classic tasting style example.
