Bottle - Caramel notes and light plum. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Sweet caramel, plum notes and some toffee.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a single centimetre tall tan head - about 80% opaque. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, nuts, earth, vanilla, caramel and some decently strong pine and hop notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich hop character with pine and resin the strongest, all with a large malt backbone with raisins, molasses and a touch of chocolate running through the mix. Aftertaste shows a nice rounded and relatively mellow characteristic with some figs, earth, vanilla, pine, resin and of course - hop note all noticeable. Overall, a nicely done and well layered Black IPA with a rich hop quality along with a good sweet finish - great to sample and definitely worth trying if you can find it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on 30-December-2013 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 10-February-2015 while getting ready for a trip to the South again in two weeks. Clear amber colour, white head. Malty aroma, hops, honey. Bitter flavour, honey, apricots. Finish fruity, light bitter. Feels a bit old, no BBF date.

Thanks to Martinus. 355 ml. bottle sampled @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Dark amber, little white head. Nose is huge dry almost medicinal pine with huge herbal malt presence. Taste is watery bitter herbs, dried grapefruit peel & lots of herbal malts, light pine. Watery & herbal. Badly construct & old on top I feel, not really worth drinking.

12 ounce bottle from Libation Station. Pours a dark brown color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of tea, spice, roasted malt, lactose, bitter coffee. The taste is cinnamon, spice, tea, chocolate, roasted malt, lactose. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice. Solid.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark, reddish brown, with a small, tan head. The immediate nose is sugar cane and vanilla. Some aromas of rye, butterscotch, resin, and caramel. Cloyingly sweet, with no bitterness or yeasty funk. Heavy body, sticky, syrupy, and clingy. This is nowhere even close to a saison, but the rum character (think Innis and Gunn) is fairly enjoyable.

On tap at the Fred. Dark brown, with a medium, fine, tan head. The aroma is milk chocolate, chicory, ginger, and dirt. Sweet and unpleasantly bitter and roasted. Medium body, harsh, and chalky. This is a confusing and weak stout. The spicing ends up being harsh and unpleasant, to me. I love chai, but this was disappointing.

Sample at ACAT. Black, with a medium, bubbly, tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, and lots of cinnamon. Some caramel, roasted nuts, and syrup. Very sweet, light savoury spice, and no bitterness. Heavy body, sticky, syrupy, and thick. This is a pretty good, sweet, spicy stout.

Pours slightly hazy pale golden color with white head. Aromas of grapefruit rind and grains with some floral notes. Grainy flavor with bitter grapefruit rind and some grass and a little fruity. Medium body with average carbonation.
