When I opened the bottle the smell of blueberries was overpowering and zero watermelon got through. I bought it as I thought the concept was just so odd, it was interesting but way too sweet. Looking at the label carefully I was disappointed to learn it was made with "essence" I guess that means extracts rather than real fruit. Disappointing.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a solid off-white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal and dry bitter hops are dominating. Taste is a mix between some dry cereal note with light dry caramel and some dry and also astringent bitter hops with no floral or other characteristics. Body is about average with good carbonation. The use of a very dry malt base with some dry hops resulted in a somewhat one-dimensional beer with not much complexity.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt is more intense then I was expecting. Taste is quite dry with some roasted malt and dry coffee notes – somewhat more intense then I had expected. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed though maybe a tad too dry for my taste.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a super thick foamy head with good carbonation and excellent retention. Aroma of dry malt notes with some notes of caramel. Taste is also dominated by a quite dry caramel malt mix with limited hops presence and without much complexity. Body is fuller then expected with good carbonation. Nice session ale without too much complexity.

Boring dark brown-black body and modest head. Aroma of alcohol and sweet fruity barley. Flavour is a bland barley with a bit of a dry finish, medium mouthfeel. It’s an incredibly average concoction of a stout.

Very nice foggy yellow body with modest carbonation and a reasonably good head on top. Soft grain aroma. Flavour is an odd mix of flowery hops and citrus with a watery mouthfeel. Not quite working, sadly.

A nice little combo of two fruits that are a symbol of summer and my first brew from Lion D’Or. Pours a golden colour with a very slight haze to it, with a big white frothy head and good lacing after slowly going down. Big blueberry nose (more on the extract side than real juice) with some of that raspberry powder smell (we had when we were kids). The taste is pretty much blueberries with the watermelon in the background, and not overpowering. Overall, refreshing and still a golden ale with just some fruits extracts thrown in. I really enjoyed the kids fruit powder, so I get to enjoy this brew (but not a real fruit beer).

Bouteille 500ml.
