Description

28/XI/15 - 75cl bottle @ Winters Bierfestival (Vichte) - BB: n/a (2015-1665) Thanks to Bierridder_S and the Gentse Biervereniging crew for sharing today's beers!
Clear dark brown beer, creamy solid beige head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: roasted, sweet, caramel, toast, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, floral, bit soapy, roasted, yeast, bitter. Aftertaste: malts, coffee, caramel, sweet, soft bitterness, bit fruity. Wouldn't go as far as calling this a (black) ipa, more of a hoppy winter ale.

Tasted at ’Bierweekend de lambiekstoempers’ 2015. Pours dark and murkey chocolate brown. Good white head. Smell is sweet, chocolaty. Taste is bitter, turning to roasty grains and chocolate. Ok beer, I had no clue this was supposed to be a black IPA, its not hoppy enough to taste that aspect blindly to me.

Commissioned blonde for the municipality of Tervuren. Thick and dense, lacing, egg-white head, light hazy ’old gold’ colour. Aroma of classic Belgian banana and bubblegum, honey, peach, grains, cooked chicken corn, white candi sugar. Sweetish taste (but less sweet than expected based on the aroma), spicy ’speculoos’ hint, thin and bit metallic, grainy body, vaguely sweetish finish lacking hops to provide balance and body, so that it fades out in a somewhat watery ending. Drinkable, if not much more than that.

29/VIII/15 - 37.5cl bottle @ Lambiekstoempers bierfestival - BB: n/a (2015-1136)
Clear orange beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, some citrus, bit spicy, aniseed maybe? Some pineapple, probably Marc snuck in some US hops. :p MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, some caramel, bit sweet, spicy touch, banana, malty, soft bitterness. Very drinkable, though a tad too sweet for me.

Bottle picked up in Belgium (probably Dranken Geers), Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie and consumed at home Wednesday 26th August 2015 Pours ruby red with a pinky head. A little sweet cherry on the nose but quite faint. In the mouth it is sweeter rather than tart, but it there is a little streaky cherry twang throughout. This is a nice beer, I like this it’s fruity enough and very drinkable without totally zapping yer in the way that many of this style can.A6 A4 T8 P3 Ov14 3.5

750 ml. bottle sampled @ 20ste Zomerbierfestival. Made for a chiro (a scouts-like organization). Dark brown, red hued, light tanned head. Nose is licorice, light cacao, herbal, syrup, lightly medicinal,… Taste is akin to a very light & fizzy porter, cacao, lightly herbal, thin chocolate, dark fruits, sweetish, light brown sugar,… Body is a bit too light & fizzy. Not very attenuated but quite pleasant to drink. Quite a nice beer.
