Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Bouteille @ Seabass going away party courtesy of Gillard.

Draught at Prohibition Taproom. Golden copper with a firmly packed white head. Aroma is sweet malts, light earthy hops, belgian candied malt, light citrus, and a fruity yeast. Medimu bodied with active carbonation. Flavor is full of citrus bitterness, candied malt, fruity yeast, light booze. I’m very anti belgian IPA but this one works it well. Fantastic.

Tasted at the big “SeaBass has got to go” tasting courtesy of the one and only Gillard, thanks! Pours mahogany with tan head. It smells sweet with vanilla, a little bit of oak, a touch of smooth sweet bourbon and then mild roastiness. The taste has a little bit of chocolate brownie and then getting a little roasty and then mildly harsh bourbon and oak by midway. Toward the finish chocolate comes forward as the booziness and somewhat harsh bourbon take over and move this into the after taste. Still pretty good but a little long on the barrel time for me.

Pours clear copper with full tan head. The full pungent aroma is a mix of citrus, oakiness, a touch of sour citrus and mild spicy rye notes. The taste is a touch prickly with carbonation tossing up spicy oak, malt sweetened citrus and then mildly drying white wine. Around that array of flavors are various oak spiciness and spicy hops. Tasty stuff that creates just hints of the booze from barrel aging. It does end up with a rather thin body.

bottle(thanks to Foppa78) at my leaving FL throwdown(17Dec10)pours dense black with a medium dark brown head. Aroma is hot with sticky bourbon and roast. Faint notes of coffee as well. Flavor is wonderful. I think the barrel is nice and finessed in this beer. Roast, black patent and coffee mix with oak and sweet bourbon finishing with lingering vanilla and alcohol. Excellent beer!
