Cask gravity at the Rake. It pours clear golden with a medium white head. The nose is grainy, floral, earth, hay and light buttery notes. The taste is crisp, doughy, grainy, floral, light toast, spice and decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A pretty tame golden by all accords. So-so.

Bottle from the brewery. It pours clear golden amber with a thick white head. The nose is citrus, grainy, light spice and toasted sugars. The taste is bready, crisp citrus, grain, some underlying sweetness, pepper and some astringency with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Nothing particularly wrong with, just a fairly regular golden. I greatly prefer the Three Beacons to this.

From polypin, picked up at the brewery. It pours opaque darkest brown with a thick beige head. The nose is smooth, woody, toast, varnish, dark chocolate and orange juice. The taste is smooth roast, piney bitterness, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, fresh orange and a touch of alcohol warmth with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Thankfully not a sweet chocolate orange beer! Balanced and quaffable.

From polypin, picked up at the brewery. It pours deep brown with a small white head. The nose is raspberry, jammy fruits, toast, earth, spice, varnish, subtle smoke and chocolate. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasty, spice, tart raspberry, touch of vanilla, faint jam and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting and very drinkable. Works rather well.

From polypin, picked up at the brewery. It pours clear pale amber with a medium bubbly white head. The nose is toast, spice, caramel, light candy notes and wood. The taste is toast, earth, hay, toasty sugars, light fruitiness, caramel, bread and good bitter kick with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth to it, but easy drinking nonetheless.
