Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy brown colored beer with what can only be describe as huge foamy super resistant head (do I need to mention perfect carbonation). Aroma is quite complex with some great roastiness and some strange mix of spices. Great roasty taste with a side of spiced plums. I could not detect any alcohol, which is quite a wonder at 10%. Wow, I’m now glad I bought quite a few so that I can cellar some.

Well, I wasn’t too impressed by this Tripel. Cloudy orange body with plenty of yeast floaties and a thin, creamy off-white head. Pear, banana, tart citrus aroma with bready yeast highlights. Flavor profile included crackers and bread (classic Tripel components), a touch of pear, white grape, toast and a peppery finish. Perfumey, yet light and unconvincing on the whole. Rather dry.

This is a great beer, the model belgian abt beer. Strong 10% thats hidden well. Beautiful dark brown color not murky but dark. Floral flavors and a sweetness at the end. I love it and I want more of it.
I’m on a Belgian Quad rerate binge. This is also some great stuff. I would prefer a bit more malt but good stugg all around.

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Jul 9th, 2004: Pours a lightly cloudy brown color with a light tan head. Thin lacing. The aroma is an interesting concoction of malt, raisin and caramel. Medium-bodied with a great Belgian feel from the get-go. Flavors of spice (cinnamon and coriander), yeast, warming alcohol and caramel. The finish is nicely complex with lots of spice and malt. I am a fan of the 12 and this beer is no slouch either.

Bottle: Poured a quite opaque brown beer with a great head with good retention. Aroma is bit weaker then expected with some roasted malts and some light plums. Taste is also a mix between roasted malts, a bit of candi sugar and some light plums. Overall, this is a good beer lacking a bit of complexity and overshadowed by better products from this brewery.

One of my favorite Belgians and one I really look for on draft. +++ Sampled from a 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head that lingers and left good lacing. There is a mild sweet and sour scent with notes of ripe fruit and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong fruitiness, strong caramel, molasses and lightly roasted malts. There is a long tangy fruit and caramel finish. Fairly full bodied. The alcohol is fairly subdued.

Very dark brown; preposterously huge, brown head, fast dwindling. Chocolate malt, mintsoap, touch woody in the nose. Sharp woody flavour to start with, then soft sweet malt comes adrift under a sharper roasted profile. Still some chocolate. Rather flat, dead mouthfeel, it's as if the beer's tired. Shame, because quite OK so far. Not thin, however. Not bad overall, but its bigger brothers are way more interesting.

Pours cloudy peach-colored with next to no head. Aroma of sour apple peel, orange, and coriander. Flavor begins on a tangy note, with orange, coriander and banana, and leads to a spice-dominated finish. Not as refreshing as some witbiers but this is full-flavored and interesting.

Rerate, 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Dark brown colour, huge off-white to beige head. Aroma and flavour mainly as the first time, but I drank the beer a little colder now, and the sweetness was not overwhelming. I’m upping it a couple points. Original rating: 330 ml capped bottle. I had trouble getting the very hard cap off (no proper opener at hand), and 1/4 of the beer was driven out by the carbonation before I succeeded. Drank it at temp. appr. 14 degrees C. Beer was murky brown with floaties, large tan head. Aroma was malty sweet with prunes, figs, dates, chocolate and cedarwood. Flavour was again malty sweet with prunes, figs, dates and chocolate. No detectable bitterness. A complex beer, but too sweet to be "perfect" IMO.

Semi-dark brown. White head, big, lasting bubbles. Smells of yeast and a little bit fruity. Rich and dry taste. No big aftertaste, but a hint of candy/bubblegum. Also slight metallic aftertaste?
