Description

Sampled at 8th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg 2015, day 2. Clear light orange golden color, virtually no head. Aroma is malts, resinous hops, slightly a hint of blossom. Taste malts, hops, sticky resinous hops as was to be expected, quite a bitter. I also get a hint of old hops though, too bad, could have been pretty nice. Suitable body and carbonation.

Gut. 12/11/12/12/7/12

Bottle. MrOrla is the man. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Vague yeast - NOT too offensive and lots of good and fresh hops. Grapefruit and pine. Soft. Power bitter finish. Good drop. Quaffable.

12oz bottle at Lortica pours a oily black with some legs and a creamy, beige head. Nose has a lot of Laphroaig, salty, rubber, molasses, licorice, smoke, raisin. Flavor is a little more approachable, sweet malt, licorice, some dark chocolate, brown sugar, dried fruit (cherries/raisins/prune), some smoke and rubber, salty dried shrimp, mild pepper. Full bodied, oily finish.

330 ml bottle from BrewDog Firenze.
Black body, with a medium, dense, creamy, coffee colored head.
Aroma of whisky, peat, earth, some smoke, alcohol.
Tastes of smoke, peat, earth, dark fruits, some cocoa, some coffee, some booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smokey, peaty, quite dry, with some coffee.
Good, but I was expecting more. The peaty whisky notes are much too dominant, almost nothing else noticeable, so that this is pretty one-dimensional. Not my preferred kind of an Imperial Stout.

0,33l bottle kindly shared by Saeglopur. many thanks. black color, dark coffee-colored head. smells of malty roast, strong smell of peat, bitter chocolate, some alcohol, hard to smell much else because the peat notes are just too overpowering. full body, soft carbonation, full mouthfeel. again strong taste of peat, some creaminess, light roast notes, some (warming) alcohol, smoke & ash. finishes with peat & ash notes. Do not like this one very much, peat is overpowering all the other notes, unbalanced.
