Description
19th century land-use plan of the area mentions a brewery owned by a certain Petronnella De Troch.
Even older records indicate that her father, Pieter De Troch, was running a brewery on the same site in the late 18th century. Petronnella married Egidius De Troch and in 1898 their son Louis took the family business over. Louis Married J. De Neve, and their son, also Louis, inherited the brewery and farm in 1936. The same Louis married M.L. Van den Moortel.
Their nephew Jos Raes and his wife M. Vanderhasselt took on the family tradition in 1974 and have been running this rare craft brewery ever since. In 2002, their son Pauwel Raes joined his parents into the family business.
In July 2012 Pauwel & his wife Kristel Schelfthout took over the brewery to continue the brewery tradition !

1 year old. Tasted as part of the 101% gueuze tasting led by Raf. After the Bokke blend my personal preference. Very citrussy sourness, hardly any funk, no bitterness to speak of. Light, clean and easy.

Tap at Lambiczoon, Milan, Italy. Pours deep red, really attractive, no foam. Aroma is really intense of barn, arm pit, sweat, a little vinous. Body is kind of light, with very limited carbonation and medium astringency. Taste is medium-high sour, with some evident fruity sweetness behind. Final is fairly long with cherries.

375ml bottle, as Oude Gueuze Cuvee. bb 7/24. Crown seal and cork. Gold with a coat of white head. Sharpish horse barn/ apple skin aroma with apricots and their stones, hay. Slippery texture. Some carbonation but pretty low. Sour but not bitingly acidic. A oldish lemon top note over horsey funk, apricot stones, bracken. Rustic and tasty with deep if not very complex funk. Would it mellow with a year or two on it?
