My last beer of the afternoon at the Brugge Beer Festival on 2nd Feb 2014: I so wanted this to be good! Poured a hazy yellow/golden colour with a small white head. Aroma was of mild maltiness and semi-sweet, some herbal and yeasty esters finished the nose. Taste the same, not a great amount of flavour or depth, a sweet Tripel which I tried to embrace, OK rather than wonderful. Not a total disaster as a final beer at the festival, but I could have done better!

From a bottle: Brugge Beer Festival, 2nd Feb 2014. Poured a deep amber brown colour with an off-white topping that did not hang around long. The aroma and taste were both a little sweet, with the malts ruling the roost, some mild chocolate notes but not a lot going to really. I had tried some big hitters during the session and this was both weak and uninteresting compared to many others on the day: sorry Danny, it wasn’t great.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a small off white head. Aroma of Brett, caramel, malt and light fruits. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Clearly infected but not entirely unpleasant.

The third Kwibus, with thin, unstable, off-white head and golden blonde colour with somewhat greenish hue. Aroma of dough, yeast, cheese, flowers, orange peel and white bread. Light citrus in the onset, immature doughy maltiness, yeasty, bit metallic, soapy hops without sufficient bitterness, not well-balanced. The third time this Kwibus range disappoints me.

Danny’s second, with off-white, sticky head and murky bronze colour. Aroma of nutty and caramelly malts, sweet tobacco, leather, nutmeg, pear; subdued fruitiness, caramel malts, dryish, thin mouthfeel and little complexity, some leafy hops and something toasty in the finish. Could have been a lot better.

Danny’s first, with thick, creamy, off-white head and misty golden blonde colour. Aroma of grass, cucumber, apple peel, lemon, cider and cauliflower, taste rather neutral, grainy, mineral-like, yeasty, with soft grassy hops in the finish. Not well-balanced, the nice guy who brews this should work on this to improve it.

Lots of malts in the aroma and also a fruity sweetness. Light yeasty sourness in the taste.

Bottle shared at the get Dean to 5000 tasting. Pours murky golden with a white head. Aroma of public toilet, not just urinal cakes but piss as well. I’m not going any further with this. Disgusting.

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow - golden color, average sized white head. Aroma is lightly malts, lightly sweetish, lightly herbal and yeasty. Taste about the same: lightly malts, lightly a herbal yeasty touch, slightly sweetish. After warming up for a while some fruity tones come through as well. Decent body and carbonation. Not bad at all.
