Bottle shared at the GBBF towards the end of Day 1. This beer was dark black with reddish highlights. The taste had some heat, no surprise at 10.5%, but also gave some oak woodsy notes. It’s a nice malt driven beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy light orange pour with a soapy white head, aroma has dank citra action, some piss and a hint of caramel, taste has citrus, bitter grapefruit, some biscuit, when I say taste it tastes like things I’ve smelled before, if I had to describe a beer sweet, bitter......unami, this is nice.

Clear dark brown beer, small layer of big beige bubbles, non adhesive, pretty stable. Aroma: very peated, bit smoky, dried fruits, nice roast. MF: sfot carbon, full body. Taste: lots of alcohol, very roasted, sweet, caramel, petty hoppy. Aftertaste: very smoky, peated, alcohol, roasted, bitter and dry finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks rayaron. Amber. Aroma of chalky malt, minerals, caramel, toast, light fruitiness, and a bit of hops. Flavor has sweetish dusty malt, toast, a caramel note, minerals, a fruity hint, and a bitter finish. Quite light-bodied.

330ml bottle from Appellation Wines, thanks to AshtonMcCobb. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of tar, blackcurrant & liquorice boiled sweets, fruity coffee. Taste is all of that, some prunes, and pretty chewy with it. A lot going on. Comes together nicely, if stickily, on the finish. Drinks well for the strength.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - molasses, toffee, liquorice. Roasty too. Dark chocolate and dried fruit eventually comes through too. Taste - liquorice and tar. Really concentrated blackcurrant. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big crunchy texture and a long dry gnarly finish. Overall - a big chewy dry stout rather than porter.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Opaque black color, small brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, iodine, peat. Taste malts, dark malts, iodine, peat, fingerpaint I used as a kid in school. Not my thing at all, absolutely don’t line it at all. I can finish it, but really really don’t want to. Too much of the Islay peat & iodine flavors for me to enjoy it.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by benzai. Pitch black colour with no real head. Smells iodine, bandaid, whisky, fingerpaint. Tastes iodine, peat, bandaid, fingerpaint. I hate the crazy amount of peat. If you like it, it’s probably a great beer. Full body, soft carbo.

Bottle at home. Hazy dark golden with bubbly white head, quite some sediment in the bottle. Grapefruit juice, light yeast, fresh malty backbone with a light caramel touch, quite herbal, some lime and nectarine. Light sweet and over medium bitter. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

Taste moderately malty, hops, loads of grapefruit, moderately bitter. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Yeah this is what I love. Grapefruit, hops and bitter. Lovely.
