Description
The Rodenbach family established the brewery in 1821 in the West Flemish town of Roeselare. The beer owes it unique quality and masterful character to the oak casks in which it matures. Rodenbach is the archetypical Flemish red-brown ale from West Flanders. Recognised as a regional product, it is probably the most award-winning beer in the world.

(Draft at Café Pardaf, Antwerpen, 18 Sep 2025) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of caramel, brown sugar, oak wood and balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with caramel, vinegar, oak wood, brown sugar, dried fruit, prunes and a fairly low bitternessin a tart and sweetish finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Complex, solid and well made, as usual. Very nice.

Vrijwel heldere gouden kleir, wit schuim verdwijnt snel. Geur is zurig, houtig, tannines, tikje funky. Retronasaal is het zoetzurig, iets appel. Smaak is zurig, licht zoetig. Medium body. Afdronk is iets droog.

Bottle shared at the 2025 Pre-Christmas/NY Zaandam Borrel. Poured a mostly clear golden colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is yeasty, vinous. The flavour is moderate sour, with a light, crisp, dry, oaky, vinous, herbal, yeasty palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Can from Tesco. Nose is cherry, metalic, faint balsamic. Taste is cordial, fruit syrup, and a faint balsamic note and a dry cordial taste to finish.

Dreadful.
