Description
The Rodenbach family established the brewery in 1821 in the West Flemish town of Roeselare. The beer owes it unique quality and masterful character to the oak casks in which it matures. Rodenbach is the archetypical Flemish red-brown ale from West Flanders. Recognised as a regional product, it is probably the most award-winning beer in the world.

Pours dark amber with thin off-white head.
Nose is sour cherry and sour in general, flavor is sour beer, amber beer and a sour cherry finish. Really good beer, my first of this kind.
Really liked it! :D

On tap @ Taplokaal Gist, Utrecht.
Hazy pinkish red with a white head. Fruity aroma. Tart taste with a tart finish. Not as sour as the standard Rodenbach or the Grand Cru but decent enough.

750ml bottle that pours a fairly clean, copper colour with some amber highlights, a light beige head, decent stay and ring around the brew. Cherry nose with some balsamic vinegar, a touch of chocolat malts. The chocolat malt base continues into the taste, mildly, with again - big cherries, sourness, vinegar, and some good wild yeast. A really nice Sour Belgian Ale with a balance of the sour, vinegar, cherry notes and mild chocolat malts.

Clean, caramel-amber colour with some golden highlights, a small whitish cap, not much lacing left. Some nice raspberry aromas with their fruitiness, tartiness, sourness. Some good sour notes in the flavours with the raspberries blending a tad more, with the mangoes. The lingering finish is nice with a little dryness, hints of tannis, tart, but staying fresh on the tongue. A really nice, refreshing, Belgian Sour with lots of raspberries, and a little mangoes.

Reviewed from notes.
On tap at Vermont Tap House, Williston, VT on 12/01/2017.
Into a tulip.
Appearance: dark ruddy amber to mahogany color with a quarter finger of pink to off-white foamy head which dissipated nicely into the glass; no lace
Aroma: tart and sour cherry notes with sweet wood, sly funky note, sweet earthy to sweet leather and a whiff of vanilla ever so slightly down in there
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fair sweet to sturdy tart and sour conglomeration; finishes dry with some tart to sour cherry notes
Texture: medium bodied; this is a sipper! yes, there's some smoothness but not the smoothness I tend to get in many beers I usually consume in the U.S. as this one seems to be like a "dry sort of smooth" character
Overall: I say a very nicely done Flanders Red Ale worthy of coming back to.
