Description
On a small abandoned farm back in 2002 William Frank and Else Birk started a small brew house focusing on quality and good craftsmanship. The brewery was not far from where the Grauballe man (a bog body that was uncovered in 1952 from a peat bog) was found - hence the name Grauballe Bryghus.

Grauballe Bryghus was in these premises until the year 2013. By then it had grown so big that it was time to move to larger premises where it is today.

Bottle, RBESG08 grand tasting. Murky golden body. Light lemony, somewhat grainy nose. Pleasant malty taste with some not all that pleasant eggy notes and a light hoppy bitterness. A bit spicy too. Just ok.

Medium coarseish beige head. Deep amber body. Fruity honeyish aroma with dark malty, peppery, citric notes. Dry-sweet fruity malty taste with a fizzy artificial soft drink feel to it. Dry astringent rubbery aftertaste. Citric notes linger. Mid to thin body. Can’t say I enjoyed this much. (0.5l bottle, Vinmonopolet Briskeby.)

On tap at Århus Ølfestival. Served with a nice, dense beige head over a dark, amber to brown body. Quite disappointing and nautral aroma with roasted malt and some sourness. Quite sour and fruity flavor, fruity sweetness too. Rather weak as well. Medium to thin body. Short finish with some bitterness. Boring but drinkable. Not very successful. (080516)

Bottle. It pours a nice, almost clear, golden body with a slightly small beige head. Grainy and malty nose with some citrus and pine. I expected more hop-aromas from it, as I remembered it as a really hoppy one, but that was three years ago. Sweetish and malty flavor too, with a good hoppyness giving citrus and pine flavors and bitterness, but as with the aroma, lower than expected. Full-bodied. The finish is sure on the hoppy side, but the sweet maltyness is present. It’s a nice beer, that’s for sure, but it felt a bit unfresh, and I remember it better. (080509)
