Bottle. Very dark brown with a tan head that fades to a coat. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, earth, vanilla, red wine. Moderate sweetness with chocolate, vanilla, licorice. Some bitterness, quite a bit oak, not as vinous as suggested by the aroma. Lacks a bit of a bottom end, but complex and harmonious.

From a 500ml bottle on 17/9/2015. Pours a deep brown with a small head. The nose is very oaky, with some red wine and a bit of chocolate. Taste wise, the chocolate dominates, with some dark fruit and sharpish vinous and oak notes presenting in the background. The palate is slick and the carbonation soft. A pretty good Baltic porter.

On tap at 4 Pines, Manly on 12th September 2015. Slightly hazy gold with white film and scant lacing. A fine, delicate citrus aroma. Crisp citrus and Muscat grape harmonise in-mouth, with hints of Indian Tonic. Sweet grape and berry fruits meet with a citric tang on the tongue during the finish. Light-bodied with fine carbonation affording a refreshing, pleasant easy drinking pilsner.

From bottle. Pours black with heavy head. A few spices on nose but surprisingly lacking in punch. Flavour similarly underwhelming. Too thin and with little of the oaky or whisky notes coming through at all. Retasted at warmer temperature and it still lacks oomph.

(Bottle) Black with a slight tan head. Nice complex aroma - coffee, oak, vanilla. Great mouthfeel - medium body with a hint of stickiness and nice bright carbonation. Excellent taste, rich, dark, sweet and complex. There’s a lot going on, including toasty dark malt, coffee, oak, vanilla, some gentle sweetness. Very good.

500ml bottle into glass. Faint malt nose. Bronze coloured beer with solid off-white head. High carbonation. Zingy mouthfeel, fruity, malty. Pretty standard Amber Ale (similar to James Squire) but expensive. Nice malt finish.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Floral hop/pine nose. Looks the goods, golden/bronze beer with solid white two finger head. A few lazy bubbles. Medium body, spritzy with a faint malt taste. Finish is bittersweet lemon. Delicious, well balanced.
