Cask @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Golden-blonde, felt a little stronger than it probably should have, although this followed a sub 4% brew for me. Has a hoppiness.

Shared with Finn at ORB. Half-pint, cask ale. Jet black in the glass, steady beige head, spotty lacing. Inviting smell of bread and chocolate, roasted. Similar taste of dark bread and chocolate added by moments of dark fruits to the finish. Smooth on the swallow. Nice. (Darlington 29.01.2020)

Keg at Tom Said, Ripley. Light gold, cloudy with little head. Light aroma, some orange peel, some sweet spice. Taste is sharp and bittersweet with citrus and bready yeast. Some sourness in the finish. Light carbonation. Decent beer if a bit muted.

Shared with ratebeer friends at Manchester Beer & Cider Festival, Coast to Coast Bar. Black in the glass, naked surface, scattered lacing. Dark doughy nose. Cocoa flavours joined by liquorice and biscuit. Ends dry and mid-sweet. medium bodied. Pleasing. (2nd day of the festival, 23.01.2020).

From wooden cask at the Manchester Beer & Cider Festival 24.01.20. Dark brown to ebony. Diminishing brown head. Aroma of sour darkl roasted malt, chocolate, sour coffee and a hint of brett. Dry and slightly sour mouthfeel.

Cask-conditioned at the Rook & Gaskill, York 22/12/2019. Near black in colour with a tight, beige, head. Big chocolate character, some dark fruit sweetness, a touch of porridge creaminess leading to a toasty finish. A good stout.
