Established in 2003
Back in 2003 we decided to go commercial with our latest creation, a Belgian Dark Strong Ale called “Pannepot”. Not with an own installation, for that we did not have the money yet, however, we proceeded as gipsy brewers. First at the Coulier Brewery and later at the nearby Deca Brewery in Woesten / Vleteren. In 2009, we moved to a school facility in the village of Oostvleteren, and where we’ve been brewing our beers independently since 2012.

Opaque deep brown with a small beige head. Toasted malt, esters, walnut, umami, dried apples & pears, bread, spicy hints, distant hop. Medium dry. Sourish. Light ending bitterness. Weak texture. Something is wrong.

Full body, med-light carbo. Med-high sweet and bitter. Lots of chocolate, light deep roast. Med-light peat. A good elegant amount though. At this ABV it feels a bit simple despite having all this, could use more oomph. Good but not G.

A dark reddish brown ale with a no head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with licorice, alcohol warmth, light woody notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with chinotto taste, jeigermaster, alcohol warmth, very nice.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown, with a small, foamy, beige head. The aroma is coffee, cola, earthy peat, light black cherry, leather, and licorice. Dry and musty, with a fair, earthy bitterness. Medium body, slick, and grainy. Interesting, but not great.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into tulip glass. Pitch black, thin tan head, disspating quickly, no lacing. Aroma roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, caramel, coffee liqueur, faint forest fruit notes, alcohol. Taste light light heavy sweet and slightly bitter, malty, roast, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, liquorice, dark fruit, alcohol notes (not overwhelming), Full-bodied, oily texture, velvetty mouthfeel, flat carbonation, malty bittersweet aftertaste, chocolate and coffee notes, light spicy notes, some alcohol, smooth, complex and harmonious, well-balanced, royal it is, excellent.

330mL bottle, pours black with almost no head. Aroma is quite intense, with a hot, almost perfumey character, medium roast, a touch of molasses, and a touch of port. Flavour is extremely intense, with major port barrel presence, medium roast, booze, and a touch of cocoa. Shows every last percent of this.

Dark brown. No head. Aroma is boozy, phenolic, headsy. On the palate, the port barrel shows through a bit, then there's lots of alcohol, a bit of dark sugars, toffee sort of thing. Raisiny and boozy.
